Cant remember if 92 was shift cable with that column, but if it is...
Put the park brake on, and while moving the shifter, watch the lever where the cable connects at the end of the shift tube at the end of the column. Most likely those bolts are loose, hopefully the one isnt broke yet.
.....most....of the time it can be done pretty cleanly this way. Sometimes I still fail though.
Dont do many idi trucks any more, but pretty regularly doing 7.3 ps oil coolers.
Note on the 7.3 powerstroke coolers, the front header is held to the timing cover with two bolts. Be careful with...
Absolutely change oil afterwards.
This job can be much cleaner if you take off the oil filter, and loosen the header bolts enough for oil and coolant to drain out the back header. I usually let them drain over night.
If cranking speed is really good, then yes, this is caused by a worn pump.
Tolerances open up, and with hot/low viscosity fuel, pump internal pressure doesnt get to where it needs to go.
Wonder if they are both wired the same?
Use to be some dissagreement about which pin the brake controll wire went to. A lot of older guys wired it to the center pin instead of the correct one.
At one point I had a 4 spd 460 bell (hydraulic), a 460 e40d, a 460 zf, and an idi bell to compare. The 460zf bell was the only one that the drilling mod would work on.
Was the turbins wheel chipped before you took it apart? Before I intercooled mine, I had no problem hitting 14ish with a maxxed turbo pump. Spoolup wasnt terrible either, but I did have up pipes and down pipe wrapped.
I wish he would come back and answer some questions. From the reading I did, sounded like maybe he was involved with the factory turbo stuff, maybe some design and testing?
He was another that would just post his "facts" though, and never answer any questions pertaining to what he stated.
Nice. Have wanted to do this for a long time.
Everything about the 085 sucks to deal with, atleast now it will spool. Wonder what it will make for boost?
If the shift points are also early, just adjust the tps voltage up .05 at a time, until you like it. Have never seen any codes from adjusting quite a bit higher than spec.
v belts rarely fail without taking others with them. In theory, you could just keep driving depending on which belt is lost, but it almost never works that way. If a belt it going to have issues on these trucks, it will be the alt belt, and it is really good at getting in behind the water pump...
I have owned, driven, and worked on a rather large number of vehicles over the years, those wing windows are exceptional.
Work really good for cleaning out dust.
Where those fittings come in handy, is using the lift pump off of the 6.5 diesels on other applications.
The filter for the tbi application is rated at 4mic, but most all I have cut open in the last 10 years or so have a tiny little element in them.
