    On a 6.9, it’s the back of the head on the drivers side, up top, where the original type controller is. The 87 6.9s and all the 7.3s use a computerized module that measures resistance instead, which in a way is relative to temperature.

    There’s definitely a reason why all manufacturers use serpentine belts now… emphasis on, properly working, they are smooth, quiet, lower maintenance, and tend to last quite a while longer. Absolute pain if there is issues with the system.

    I’ve never smelled it, there’s other chemicals they put in the seat and insulation that are also deterrents, but smell pleasant when new. Fades into an earthy, oily mix not unlike our trucks with time and use.

    CAT uses rat ***** in the coating on the wires of their newer equipment… keeps the critters from munching, they usually don’t even move in. I think they started doing that in ‘08 or so.

    It’s kinda expensive, but I bought a calibrated infrared thermometer. Has to be recalibrated every two years to keep certification. According to that thing, my vent temp is 38* with max AC, fwiw. Full and proper R134 conversion.

    Nothing wrong with that. I’ll admit to having pulled plenty of things that made me glad I wasn’t going 80 mph, but there’s definitely a time and place for pulling that fast… not always necessary, but it is sometimes.

    ??? I guess I’m too young and dumb to know what this means. I don’t know everything, hardly anything important, but I do know the situation for most rural Kansans. Not super applicable outside the area. You know what works for you. That’s what counts, right?

    Yes, you. @Rdnck84_03 is likewise a Kansan, but I haven’t personally met him. I don’t know his opinion on towing speed, but yours was easy to piece together from snippets of posts here and there. And seemed like you told me about pulling something at speed when we did meet in person.
