big block chevy fueling for your IDIT+!!

I don’t know. I haven’t heard from @IDIoit since end of January. I’m sure he’s busy with something. Hopefully he’s doing well.

    1965 Mercedes-Benz 190Dc Fintail Diesel Project

I am aware that this section of the forum has been dead for around 4 years, but alas, this is the proper place to post about these cars Yesterday I went out to Grand Island, NE and picked up this car… This isn’t the best picture, but given that the trip took all day, I didn’t have much time to...

    Best Valley Pan Gasket?

Some people make brass or aluminum caps. Otherwise, rails. I like the rails. A pain to install, but once they are, nothing to worry about. The turbo valley pan has a different baffle in the CDR drain, you can’t see it, externally, they look identical.

The overly complicated disaster that is this swap project

Got it home. Had to get some mirrors for it, the ones on it were so wobbly that you couldn’t see behind you, not ideal for a 6 hour interstate trip. Then it ran fine the whole way back. The engine has a little bit of injector haze when started cold, so those will need replaced. I was aware of...

Original early copper brass radiators vs aluminum

When I bought my 91, it had the original brass. Partially clogged and leaky I replaced it with a plastic tank aluminum core unit from Napa After installing an intercooler, and having a failing thermostat, I blew up the upper tank on that radiator. Still under warranty. Water pump failed...

    Portable Inflator suggestions

I have one of those. The only DeWalt tool that I use anymore. I used to have lots of DeWalt stuff, but as they wore out or broke, I switched to Milwaukee’s Fuel lineup. But for some reason, I still use the DeWalt air pump. I mostly keep it in one of the side boxes on my motorcycle, along with...

The overly complicated disaster that is this swap project

By the way, the 6.7 Cummins in a Freightliner application, at least any that I have seen, is a rear gear train engine. The timing case isn’t particularly large, but it is worth noting. I also haven’t decided how to mount the powertrain, part of me would like to remove the engine cradle and...

The overly complicated disaster that is this swap project

Yes. Indeed. I understand and largely agree. May I note, in this application, that Allison is also a 1000 series, but a 6 speed, double overdrive variant. 0.711 fifth and 0.614 sixth. However, I may note that efficiency isn’t necessarily the goal with this build. A factor, certainly. That was...

The overly complicated disaster that is this swap project

I guess. I’m sure all this will take awhile, but I’m motivated to work on this project, if I could just decide what I’m doing… the Cummins and Allison combo intrigues me, I’d definitely like to try and make it work.

The overly complicated disaster that is this swap project

Back in late February of 2025, I bought a 1994 Ford F350, regular cab 11’ bed 4WD chassis cab dually truck, with a 7.3 IDI and E4OD automatic. Real straight body on the truck. Bought it off Purplewave. There was a video on the listing of the truck cranking over, was claimed to be non running...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Saturday was not my day. Had water line issues at a job site, took most of the day, had been planning on setting up forms to pour concrete, which, we got a little bit of that ready. But… Lost the engine in my 91 on the way to work that morning. Started knocking, blew a bunch of oil out of...

    Injection pump rebuild

I don’t doubt it… sure wonder why it has to be this way though. I think doing good business with your neighbors is important, but that’s about as political as I’m willing to get on here. Seems to me like we could have cooperation that may allow all of us here in the Western hemisphere to strive...

    Injection pump rebuild

Sounds like Chatham would be the way to go, even if on the high side of the quote, much cheaper than tariffs and pump rebuild. The Orange One hasn’t made it cheap to ship anything across our border, about a month ago I had some magazines made for one of my rifles, the tariff wound up costing...

6.9 vs 7.3 idi oil fill/injection pump cover change

I do not know of any problems with the 6.9 design, other than the fact that it is much slower to fill with cold oil, less than 50* or so. The 7.3 design is more open flowing, but I don’t like the angle it sits at. I prefer the 6.9 design myself.

big block chevy fueling for your IDIT+!!

Well, 100k a year before taxes isn’t a whole lot in this economy, but as low as the cost of living is in this part of the world, that kind of money will allow a person to live very comfortably here. I have a lot of life left ahead of me, and already make more than that… so I don’t have much to...

big block chevy fueling for your IDIT+!!

You got this. Life has its ups and downs, but as you said, you'll prevail. Hearing other people talk about their careers often reminds me how lucky I am to have some of the highest job and profit security in the nation... whether the cattle market is up or down does not change the fact that...

big block chevy fueling for your IDIT+!!

I wouldn’t have it any other way, personally… Sure. Well then. I guess I’m the 0.1% this time. It’s just green ink on particularly fibrous paper that the government has declared to hold a certain amount of value. I’ll be at work again tomorrow, if it doesn’t rain. If it does, then I’ll...

big block chevy fueling for your IDIT+!!

I think this is a really good idea. Good enough to throw some money at. I have recently had a conversation with IDIoit, and another prototype is in the works. Hopefully we can come to the point where we have high flowing, reliable, serviceable mechanical pumps. I’ve been pretty happy with my...
