Ate 2 sets of gps in a month or so

The Z Resistor is NOT a voltage reducer. The 7.3 controller measures current across this resistor to determine how hot the plugs are. The 6.9 and 7.3 systems both supply full battery power to the plugs. With them all running, we see 9-10 volts due to current draw. The difference in the...

    Removable rear bumper?

It could also be a “slide” for the rear bumper. Lat’s say you have an 11’ Camper. The bumper would be 2+ feet in front of the rear of the Camper. You might be able to pull those pins, and slide the bumper back to another set of holes, and then the bumper would be even with the back of the...

    Quick question

I’ve thought it would be cool to take a Lincoln like that, or a big Ford from the era and drop and IDI in it…..

    Thoughts on Performance upgrades/direction/Cummins?

I can agree with you on this. For the “old timers” here that remember Travis (argve) and the Enterprise and the Nanny Goat, both truck that had a ton of mods done…. He got in my stock 03 6.0 Excursion (325hp/560tq) factory, and he made the comment that in the factory trim (my truck is 100%...

Air intrusion | Replace the olives or replace steel lines

I may be wrong… but I thought someone on here mentioned you could use semi air line for fuel lines…. I may be thinking of something else…. But this does come to mind…. It may have been Russ @typ4 or he mentioned something else he used it for and I am remembering wrong.

    Thoughts on Performance upgrades/direction/Cummins?

My opinion, you own the turbo already. Put it on and turn up the pump that’s on there (follow the guidelines so supporting accessories, like a pyro) and see what you think. If you want more, a pump and injectors will still be less than a Cummins swap. Dont get me wrong, I know what a P-Pump 12...

    “The 6.9” project thread

Yep, Gal I work with had a coolant leak on her car. She took it in more than once with the complaint, and kinda got brushed off every time…. even when it was dripping on the floor in the service drop off bay. Tried to pass it off as “residual” from when they fixed it. Next trip in, her dad...

    “The 6.9” project thread

I have been watching the YouTube channel Just Rolled In… which are ~3 minute videos of “Customer States”….. some of them are doosies……. One of the recent videos had a vehicle in the shop with a coolant in the oil complaint…. Someone had connected the PCV Valve hose to the coolant overflow...

    Lunchbox locker

Yes it is. We had an 83 F-150 with the factory Limited Slip differentials on both ends (front and rear). It was new enough they both still worked like theY should. It was a 4.10 truck (on the floor it would maybe do 75 - 351 V-8). But, if you out it in 4-lo and stabbed the throttle, the...

    Gauges Guidance

An EGT gauge is highly recommended for an N/A Engine. Members on here have found the N/A’s are MUCH easier to get temps high very easily. Even in stock tuning, the N/A’s run on the edge all the time. Less air, which not only hurts the combustion process, but that air also helps to “cool” (by...

    “The 6.9” project thread

I would also say that is it also changing tastes.... I've had Bulls, Bricks, and OBS's. I will likely have another Bull in the future.... which is my favorite body style. However, I have an 03 Excursion (so basically a Super Duty F-250.... and I have an 11 F-150. I have liked them all...

    new motorcraft glow plug issues

Here is a video that I have posted before. This guy was a tech in a Ford garage (he now owns his own shop, in the Chicago area I believe) He talks about Plugs and Coil packs for the 5.4 Gasser... but the packaging stuff all still applies. He goes really in depth of what to look for..... and...

    Stock rims.

The vans (E-Series) stayed 8 x 6.5 after the 99 switch to 8 x 170mm on the F-2/350's. Not sure it went all the way to 07.... but it did make it into the 2000's But, they did switch to metric some time in the run..... 97 and down E/F-2/350's were 8 x 6.5 across the board.... (except the 97/98...

    Resurrecting a $900 1986 with 7.3idi swap. Fuel?

    Resurrecting a $900 1986 with 7.3idi swap. Fuel?

If an IDI looses its prime, they can be a bear to get primed and restarted…. Let me share a personal experience to give you some encouragement…. A few years ago my oldest son saw an. 88 IDI listed for $800 non-running. He contacted the fella to see what was doing, and make arrangements to...

So what did you do with your truck today?

That is the way I load the mower/tractors on the trailer. Makes it way closer to flat on the ramps, since I have a fairly steep driveway. I did it before, so I could "choke up" the wood ramps I had, so they didn't flex as much. They ar 30+ year old, heavy 2x10's. Momma didn't like how they...

New injectors and pump. Exhaust smoking.

One other thing to add. I would not adjust the fuel screw on a fresh rebuild without express consent from the builder. I would not want to see you void a warranty chasing a problem......

7.3 idi with 6.2 Detroit governor spring install

Search under user dyoung14……. Not sure if the videos are still out there…. But he had some fun with his bullnose……. He did the GM governor spring, and posted a few videos….. I’ll just say… if you think the sound of a Ford IDI against the stock 33-3600-ish governor is bad………..

    Wally my new truck TLC

It could also be coming from the Z strip. We had one the glow plugs hadn't worked for a while (power feed). Once we got them working, that Z strip resistor was hot enough to make all the crap on it smoke off the first couple of uses.

    1988 IDI Bronco

Maybe they were using up "old" stock of the harnesses. Our 83 Bullnose F-150 used the 1156/1157 (or maybe 21's)..... I never pulled a bulb out of the Brick's or OBS's we had...... I know that Ford would do that.... that 83 had an "82" 351 engine in it. We did a tune up on it, and bought...

I have several of those carbs around that he used. I watched the 1st video when he showed how he installed it and got it running.. But Mine are on the 14-16 Horse Single Cylinder Kohlers they are supposed to be on.... It looked like a fairly common Carter or Walbro that was used for decades...
