    7.3 injector lines getting old

Do you have the vibration dampener clamps on the lines. Those missing are the only time I have ever seen a line fail like that.

EPA Sheriff, Nosy Karens and my truck

Yes this one smokes, bad if you want. My son is almost 26, he is working on turning DOWN the fuel, and probably a bigger turbo. He does not want it to smoke anything like it does. It may still have a bit of smoke, but he is now “old enough” to realize all the black smoke is $$$$ down the...

EPA Sheriff, Nosy Karens and my truck

Here you go, here is the “stack” in my Son’s truck…. It’s a bute Clark……. So, yes there is some novelty to it… but after a couple weeks, he has decided it needs to go……. There is soot everywhere…. The back of the cab is covered, the bed has soot in it, the rear slider has just the tiniest...

EPA Sheriff, Nosy Karens and my truck

Yes it looks horrible..... he saw the novelty in it for about a week... then he started planning the fix..... Just to give you and idea of how it is "secured", the installer cut and "X" in the pipe, set the hole cut in the bottom of the barrel over the pipe, and then took and beat the 4 flaps...

EPA Sheriff, Nosy Karens and my truck

Yes, exhaust piping size is important. My son just picked up an 01 24 valve Cummins Dodge, and the PO, put in a “stack”. The “stack” is a 55 gallon drum with a 4” or so pipe sticking about 3 or 4 inches into the drum. The top is cut out of the drum, and this truck will smoke like a freight...

    Weird heat issue

Same thing happened to mine. I had a coolant leak, and found it to be the "little blue hose" to the EGR Cooler. Found out the only real way to replace that hose is to pull the cooler, replace the hose and reinstall the cooler. I don't have emissions testing in my state, so I made the...

    1986 F250 HD 4x4 hubcaps

The Dana 44 lockouts are smaller than the Dana 50/60 Hubs. I would say yours being an extended cab, that you have a D50….and the truck those came off of had a D44

How much is my 94 f-350 drw 7.3 idi turbo worth?

I guess I have a different viewpoint on this. I do own newer vehicles. An 03 6.0 and an 11 F-150 3.5 EB..... and what I've had to fix on both of these trucks (I've had the 03 for 14 years now) is normal wear hard parts. I've had 1 sensor go, and that was on my 6.0, in 2013.... it threw a...

Not to beat a dead horse..

I’m honestly not sure. I don’t have any Carquest stores around here… all mine are Advance (which does carry Carquest brand stuff). Most of the time I use AutoZone or NAPA. I think that Advance and Carquest are now the same company.

Not to beat a dead horse..

There is an episode that Rudy is walking through the yard, I think early on in the Morrvair build (it may have even been around the time they were cleaning out the shop to be able to do the build) and he walks by the body from a Corvair "truck" (what ever they were called) and said this was the...

Not to beat a dead horse..

I can‘t wait to see what all they do with the Banana…. The Morrvair is really cool. I think the Corvair Truck rescue rig is gonna be really neat. Who needs a trailer to get a dead SxS…. Just load it in the Corvair…….

Not to beat a dead horse..

Yep, I put a set of driveworks ball joints in my Excursion. I was doing other work at a buddies shop and found that bad ball joints (I had ordered all the parts for the other work being done).. and the cheapies from Advance was all I could source at the last minute. They did not last to the...

    7.3 IDI overheating issue!!

Is this truck an automatic? The 200 RPM jump to me sounds like the torque converter unlocking or slipping, causing a bunch of heat in the transmission, that is then transferred to the radiator via the transmission cooler in the bottom of the radiator. This increases the coolant temperature and...

    7.3 IDI swap

If you look in the archives, we had a member put a 7.3 IDI into a square body dually…. It’s been a while back. I think the member is Genlightning…… I think this is the build thread….. or it at least gets you pointed in the right direction…...

    Road trip time

Agreed, if it has been taken care of…. Run it. The only thing you are gong to hurt is your ears… LOL. Towcat had F-Superduty wreckers and rollbacks, and the F-Superduty has 4.88 or higher gearing.. The rollback if it was moving it was on the governor…. His truck had hundreds of thousands of...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Chris, Quick trick, pull the clamps off (unscrew until you can separate them). Then, go grab 2 zip ties, and replace the hose clamps. My OCD says to put them 180 out, kinda like those clamps are. But you are going to have much less rotating mass with 2 plastic zip ties, vs those hose clamps...

    foamy the filter

Looking at the pictures, that foam looks like the same type foam pre-filter that is on my lawn and garden equipment. That foam helps in dusty conditions. If traps some of the "larger" dust and helps to keep the paper element cleaner, longer. The foam can be removed and cleaned out (air, wash...

    What all runs on vacuum?

A vacuum leak normally makes the brake pedal very stiff and hard to push (like when the engine is off). When was the last time you adjusted the rear brakes? A slowly sinking pedal that still has normal assist is the rears out of adjustment, and the wheel cylinders slowly filling... How close...
