That spec really matters to the 6.7 and maybe 6.4 engines. Our IDI’s really don’t care. If it is diesel rated and slick, that is what we need…. The 6.0’s seem to like a “thinner” full synthetic (I run the 5w-40 Delo), but that is to keep the injectors happier….- snicklas

Speed of the engine/truck does not determine EGT’s. An engine moving along unloaded at 70MPH on the interstate might be 5-600 degrees. But, a truck at max GVW at 20MPH with the foot on the floor and is “NASA Hot”. I’m with Dave, get the pyro and be sure. Also, an N/A Engine can have EGT...- snicklas

6v53 trany hookup
Is there an adapter plate on the current engine? Is the one in the truck you are replacing, a 6v53 also, or is it a different engine entirely?- snicklas

I agree also. Change the oil… and at short intervals.. I would even use the SuperTech or Traveler brands (Even the cheap oils are better than the oils we had 40 years ago). Then take it out and work it. Put a trailer behind it or throw something heavy in the bed (you mentioned being a...- snicklas

IDIT oil pressure delay
Also, make sure the hole you put the new sender in is clean. We had a member here kill a brand new turbo because there was schmoo in the hole in the block, blocking oil flow. If you took out a plug to install it, there could be 30 years of crap in the way between the sender and the oil. Also...- snicklas

7.3 heads on a 6.9?
Are you asking if the entire head can be used.... it could, you would just need some kind of sleeve to go from the 1/2 in bolt holes in the 7.3 heads to the 7/16 studs/bolts in the 6.9. No, there isn't enough meat to drill the 6.9 out to 1/2 bolt holes- snicklas

Injection pump?
The fuel screw is set while the pump is on the calibration machine. There is no "factory setting" as each pump calbrates just a little different. Just like the timing mark for the IP on the gear housing. That was set at the factory when the engine was built and was adjusted during the test...- snicklas

F350 steering box upgrade
It honestly wouldn't surprise me if all the vans didn't have the Saginaw pump. Our 85 E-150 302 had real easy steering, and I don't remember it whining.... and I put a TON of miles on the one we had. Either that, or we were lucky and had the worlds quietest C2 pump.....- snicklas

Front tank sending unit.
So what did the "new" tank come out of? Could have gone old school and gotten a behind the seat tank and put that in.... at least leaking diesel in the cab would be "better" than leaking gasoline.......- snicklas

Actually, yes. My Son had a 94.5 PSD OBS truck and when he got it the steering was wonky….. so we were checking it out and saw the steering box moving around. It only had 2 bolts in it. We got a 3rd bolt and put it in and the issue cleared, but it came back after long, and we found that new...- snicklas

7.3 injector lines getting old
Yep, all 8 lines need to have the clamps on them… otherwise this is the result. I would find/buy a set and then replace that one line, with the correct line, one last time….- snicklas
