    That’s a really clever fix! The only thing I could see causing problems is if the radius of the pivot ball doesn’t match the radius of the pivot fork. It could wear out pretty quickly. But then again, you can easily adjust the pivot ball to account for any wear, and it’s easier to grease now...

    Have you removed the oil fill cap with the engine running to see how much blowby you’re getting? And I know you said it doesn’t smell like coolant, but does the exhaust smell like normal diesel exhaust?

    How are your battery cables themselves? Try getting under the truck while someone cranks the engine and check for voltage drop at the starter. If that’s good, then I’d get a new starter. Like you read earlier in the thread, this was the fix for both me and Selahdoor.

    I definitely recommend the oil pump mod! When I rebuilt mine the keeper arm had worn about 60% through the rib in the case. I also had to get a new planetary since mine had too much play. Definitely let us know how yours goes!
