    Box on C&C

OK... I just put a tape measure on the CC with a dually bed so I have real measurements to give you. 1992 F450 single cab/ Cab Chassis frame: At the bottom edge of the fenders I have 1 inch fender overhang from outside of 235/85/16 tires. At the top radius of the fender, to the edge of the...

    Box on C&C

I presently own 3 dually Ford trucks, so have a pretty good side by side comparison. It's not an issue. Unless you are building a show truck and measuring with a micrometer, it's plenty good, wheel width wise. Far as I can tell, the only major difference between cab chassis rear ends and...

    Box on C&C

I put a regular 8 ft dually bed on my 92 F450 cab/chassis with 11 ft from back of the cab to end of frame. I then built a 2'8'' tool box with the ends the same profile as the bed to fill the gap. Centered the dually bed fenders over the Cab Chassis rear axle and it looks "right". To mount the...

    460 to idi swap questions

I own two 92's... they use a speedo sensor mounted on the diff. It's a hall effect magnet that counts the teeth on the ring gear for signal.. One truck is AF 5,,, the other one is E4OD... No mechanical connection from trans to speedo.

    Gas tank for Diesel?

What fuel pressure does the Cummins engine need for your application? Since you have a "cummins powered Ford" now, it's a different game than fueling an IDI 7.3. As I recall, the cummins fuel controls need different fuel pressure than the 7 to 11 PSI the 7.3 engine uses. Your call..

    Bolt in seat options

NO.... The "floor pan" is actually an "adapter pan" which permits you to bolt in a 40/20/40 seat set in the same space a bench seat takes. You bolt the buckets to the "adapter pan" and it bolts to the floor using the same hole pattern your bench seat used... easy .. no fuss..

    Bolt in seat options

The answer is "NO"... the "captains chairs" ... which I take you mean Ford 40/20/40 seating set [yes ??? ] will not match up to bolt where your bench seat bolts. You will need one of the "trays" to convert from bench seat to "captains chairs" If you don't use a tray, your seat will NOT set...

Anyone heard of a cab and chassis idi?

One of my IDI trucks is a 92 Cab Chassis truck. I bought it with a service body on it, which I absolutely hated, so I mounted a dually bed on it. The truck is an F450, and the frame behind the cab is 11 ft. Like you, I found there are no bed mounts on the cab chassis frame, so I made them...

    Bolt in seat options

Danielle, I just read through your vehicle list.... now I understand why "No more trucks"... haha.. I don't have a list of mine... cause there are 17 right now, and I'm looking at a "few more".. hahaha.. I don't bother making a list, it would eat up to much space here. When you mount the tray...

    Bolt in seat options

Pelky350, I've only seen the trays in early 90's trucks, but I have used seats from explorers and broncos, as well as late model [99 / 2000] with the tray... in my book, it's the "magic fix" and Ford already made it.. I used Explorer power seats, 6 way, plus lumbar air bag.... in my F450 "rides...

    Bolt in seat options

When you drag through Pick and Pull, look for a truck with bucket seats AND a tray underneath they bolt to... THE TRAY is what you want !!!! That tray will let you use any Ford bucket seat out of an Explorer or a truck. The tray has TWO bolt pattern.. One is the same as a BENCH seat. The other...

Current IDI Projects (need advice/come looksee for fun)

How old is the weld repair? If it's gone for thousands of miles already... it's a fair bet it will continue. Welding cast iron is a fine art that must be learned from someone who learned it from someone who knew how to do it. Most important is pre-heat and post-heat... You MUST preheat the...

Cast Aluminum Master and Slave Cylinders on sale!

Clutch slaves with bleed screws are the cats ass to bleed doing it my way. I've stocked up on the old style just because clutch bleed is such a pain in the ass. Here is what I do. With the system dry and everything mounted, Put the clutch master cap on loose, to let air out [if you leave the cap...

Switch up to 19.5 rims and tires.... puts you into the commercial truck category for weight and ply count. Might have to shop around to find tread you liked. 10 lug, 19.5's, F450 or F550 axles, 4 wheel disk brakes, with hydroboost... Bobs yer Uncle.

Is there a trick to remove bed?

Got a wire welder? If you do. lay a 1/2 inch black iron nut on the head of the bed bolt [top side of bed] and hold the nut in place with a pair of pliers. Insert the wire welder cup into the nut and fire off a weld good enough to bond the nut to the round head of the bolt. NOW, you have...

    1990 F350 7.3 n/a overheating

What dirtleg said... X2 .... Cost of cummins conversion will buy a boat load of fuel... plus down time to do conversion... Pull the engine, do the head gaskets, studs, seal it up, install new clutch... it all goes back just like it came out... couple days, you are back in business... I agree...

    1990 F350 7.3 n/a overheating

I've always found the pressure gauge on the radiator to be quickest diagnosis for leaking head gaskets. Looks like it's worked for you also. If it's turbo'ed, pull both heads and use studs. You'll go for more years than the Cummins conversion costs.

    military tires

MY advice would DON'T GO THERE.... even if the tires/rims are free.. Military convoy speed limit is 55 MPH... WHY? Because military TIRES are not speed rated... they are unsafe at "normal" highway speeds because they are HEAVY to take abuse and bullets, not race down the freeway. 16.5's used...

    1990 F350 7.3 n/a overheating

Just read through the thread... didn't see where you pressure checked the radiator cap, or pressure checked the radiator while engine was at operation temp [typical test tool has a do-dad that fits the radiator cap opening with a pressure gage on top that reads pressure in your coolant system...

    Turbo hard piping?

I have no issues with your welds... however the pressure flow from each bank to the turbo will SUCK badly because of all the sharp angles and flow direction changes in the exhaust. You won't get good work energy delivered to the turbo with that setup.. Looks like that turbo has a T3/T4 FLANGE...

    Strange glow plugs

OOOooopppps.... Your glow plug just swelled up at the tip, then broke off. The tip is embedded in the top of the piston, or if you got really lucky.. went out the exhaust valve [somehow]... Or, if you are "real lucky" the tip is still in the hole and you get to pull the head to get it out...
