How to use twin fuel tanks?

First, buy a cheap 12V fuel pump and clear poly hose from home depot, or ace hardware... you can see the fuel being pumped out. Get some 12 volt low voltage landscape light wire and make a 12V extension cord for the pump so you can work near the tanks.. put a 12v rated switch in the line to the...

How does PEX hold up in diesel fuel?

That is the roll over valve I used, both tanks, which cured the problem. The grommet that fits the tank is the same size as the small hose roll over valve, so it is a "direct fit" into the tank. I used the old grommets, didn't bother changing them out. All I can say is, "It worked for me"...

How does PEX hold up in diesel fuel?

Can't tell from the picture. If the vent line barb fitting is 1/2 inch... Bob's yer Unkle.. If it's smaller.... it will puke fuel...when you fill.. The 97 roll over valve in much larger, compared to the OBS size, which is, if I recall 3/8's and doesn't vent enough air when you are pumping...

Help with lug nuts and wheels

The other issue with 18 inch and 20 inch tires is the load rating and ply rating. Our trucks are heavy, and we haul "stuff" with them.. any tire wee use needs to have 10 plys, and be rated "load F"... Rubber band tires on bling rims don't meet those requirements and aren't really safe, in our use.

Help with lug nuts and wheels

https://www.uswheeladapters.com/wheel-spacers/ My bet is the wheels are hub pilot wheels with flat face lug nuts.. if you want to use them safely, figure out what you have... You may want to install a set of wheel adapters for hub pilot wheels. like the link above. It's your baby, but when a...

Help with lug nuts and wheels

Sorry, don't agree. The wheels are bored for "Flat bottom " lug nuts... not cone bottom. Google "flat bottom lug nut" and you will find what you need... ORiley and Napa sells them for about $6 each... I just bought a set of 32 of them for $45 on line, for one of my trucks. Not to jump this...

Help with lug nuts and wheels

The cone bottom lug nuts are WRONG for that type wheel... Please don't use them. What you need for a mag wheel is a flat bottom lug with a washer. If you look at the first photo, you will see a tiny ring around the cone of the cone style lug nut. That tiny ring is the ONLY contact area you have...

What to do with this truck?

Black stuff in the rear view mirror is not power, it's unburned fuel. The right combination of air, fuel, and timing gets you more power. Charge air cooler [intercooler] cools intake air so it is more dense. More dense air has more oxygen packed in the same space, which means, you can burn the...

    Cap options...

I did a cheat to run a bed mount fuel tank and a cap. Made up a tube that runs from the fuel tank to the side of the cap, Used a boat fuel cap that mounts almost flush on the side of the cap, hole saw made an access port through the cap to mount the fuel cap, mounted it about 6 inches above the...

E350 van rear end with disc brake on F350, possible?

My 92 dually quad cab is still setting, waiting for an engine build, and other mods.. have not gotten to it "yet"... to many projects ahead of it, so far. So, after original post, no progress by me. Still looks like a dually van axle in the 94 to 97 year range might be "the choice".

    Experience with GV install anyone?

Question: To clear the air, which GV do you have? I have one that does not bolt to the rear of the transmission [or transfer case]. Instead, it is made to replace the carrier bearing between the rear driveshafts. On that setup, the mount that fits the GV requires that the driveshaft angle be...

Room for crow's foot & breaker bar for fan clutch?

Check with your local auto parts store... ORileys for example... most have a very reasonable tool rental for speciality tools, like the fan clutch... you have to put a deposit, which you get back when you return the tool... One time rental is way cheaper than owning it.... might look into that...

    Promise... the build

ATF is loaded with carbon and sludge dissolving materials. It's the secret that makes automatic transmissions survive incredible working loads and temperatures. Those same sludge dissolving materials just happen to work "pretty well" in our injector pump and injectors, doing the same thing.

    Help!broke down on the highway

If you are dropping a fuel tank, a cheep 12V fuel pump is your best friend... ebay or amazon, maybe $12, or less, and a few feet of fuel line over to a clean container, and "bobs yer unkle".... Even with the tank empty, I like to use a transmission jack to drop the tank, and it makes install...

    Promise... the build

Ment to comment on this early in the thread..... back where you show a pic of the master cylinder leak at the vacuum booster.. Brake fluid leaking from the rear seal of brake master will destroy the diaphram of the brake booster and you won't get good brakes. If the master is leaking, and...

    Promise... the build

Let me be more clear about "surging coolant" .... with a head gasket leak, it's way more than just increased coolant flow due to engine RPM... it's combustion gasses pushing coolant out of the fill neck. If you have a leaking head gasket, the buildup of pressure in the radiator, and heat will...

    Promise... the build

re "blowing white smoke" and "radiator is to hot to touch".... Time to do a simple test: With engine off, open radiator cap and leave it off.. Start the engine and let it run for a bit, watch what happens to the coolant at the fill neck in radiator... if it's "surging" when you rev up the...

    Help!broke down on the highway

It wasn't a fluke, it was like smashing your thumb with a hammer, so you learn not to do it again. "Likely" the plastic pickup in one of the tanks has discinigrated and pieces got sucked up to the switch valve, which blocked it from closing or switching. It will suck more up as you drive it, and...

Fuel Filter Light Comes on & Truck Dies

Think you found a good reason the engine is running out of fuel and the fuel filter is plugging up quick. Drop the tank and take it to a radiator shop to be boiled out. OR, take a sample of what you can scrape up and try disolving it with stoddard solvent in a cup. If the Stoddard solvent...

1990 7.3 Fuel filters keep needing changed ever 20 miles

It's a simple test to check the content of the filter, a few minutes time, might discover why the new filter is failing to pass fuel after 10 miles. What could it hurt?

1990 7.3 Fuel filters keep needing changed ever 20 miles

Stanard filters will also fill up with water, the top of the filter is where fuel is sent to IP. When filter is full of water, you don't get fuel to IP or Injectors, engine dies. The "Filter plugged" sensor is at the top of the mount bracket. Water breaks the signal and tells him "filter...

1990 7.3 Fuel filters keep needing changed ever 20 miles

Are you sure you do not have water in your fuel? If you have water in fuel, the filter will fill up with water and displace and block off fuel to the injectors. The engine will die because of lack of fuel to the injectors. When you install a new filter, it runs for a while, while the water gets...

    Bucket seats.

If you want to use Explorer seats or Bronco seats, find the seat pan that bolts to the floor that has the same bolt pattern as a bench seat. That seat pan will have a set of bolt holes that exactly fit the bucket seat bolt pattern and it becomes a no pain install. You'll have to look through...

    Truck bed camper thoughts.

My advice: Keep the truck [presume it's paid for]. Search Craigslist for a travel trailer that is 18 ft to 20 ft long, that has a bathroom, bed, and kitchen with a fridge. This time of year, should be able to get steal of a deal. Check the roof, if it has leaks, move on, find one with a tight...

    Head gaskets???

Start the engine, open the hood and remove the radiator cap, watch what the coolant does. As the engine comes up to operating temp, if you have a head gasket leaking, the coolant will surge out the cap opening. If you reach over to the Injection Pump throttle arm and rev up the engine, coolant...
