    Trailered home a 1989 F350 dump truck that looks great on the outside, but the 7.3 IDI is something else

    Leaving block heater cord plugged in

    I got my block heater replaced a year or so ago and ever since when it’s plugged in for more than 30 minutes or so it starts humming. Anybody ever come across this? I suspect it’s boiling the coolant so I started leaving it plugged in for shorter durations and it seems to be quieter.

    I doubt anyone on this thread currently needs the info, but it might be helpful for anyone searching for specialty tools in the future. Most all can still be found through a good google search, they are pricy but at least still out there.

    Battery jumper packs?

    I have had great success with a NOCO GB150. A while back I had a bad battery, alternator and bad ground cable. It kept me running for a few weeks (with recharging it every few jumps) until i got the chance to figure out all the issues.
