Thanks to a couple of ob'ers for parts I managed to get my dually officially 4x4 today.
Jon sold me the driveshaft and Corey (dieselcrawler) sold me a tcase with he proper front output yoke...
Now she's powering all 6!
ive been to a few rallys... this year with travel for work and my best friends wedding i didnt attend a single event....nothing diesel related....no swap meets....nothing! I would love to be able to host eventually as ive been a pivotal member in the suzuki samurai community with Gonzookin but...
i did peel and stick on the floor and back wall and door pillars in my dually along with 2 layers of the bubble type insulation on the floor. it made a difference. im hoping when i get to repainting the roof the bedliner on there will quiet it down a bit more.
hands down the best mod ive done to my dually...i can lock up all 6 on demand now. guaranteed to make the person in front of me poo in their pantaloons when they see an 8,000lb truck howling because they decided to cut me off in traffic
ive been thinking about doing the same thing for a daily driver to replace the grand cherokee im driving when the time comes. but my thoughts were to remove the cradle...completely build a new tubular one and put a SFA out of a 78-79 bronco/F150 under it.
my questions would be if your going to an exotic material/coating on the valves how will the valve guides hold up. as Russ was saying...you rarely if ever hear of a valve breaking.... but worn valve guides are most definitely an issue!!!!
will the black nitrided valves cause there any excess...
yea...now its got a good bolt with nylock nuts so hopefully it wont fall off again and should have taken care of a suspension rattle too...now i just need to get the spare case im buying from diesel crawler then i should be able to finish the 4x4 conversion...turns out my truck needs the ultra...
the only thing left would be to look deeper....which means motor comes out and heads come off. i had one that hammered like hell for 3,000 miles...still good power....still good mileage just was loud. when i pulled it and yanked the heads i had a broken ring and a sloppy #8 hole (wore to high...
have you pulled the pushrods and inspected them for damage....if you have a collapsed lifter i would imagine you would see one of the pushrods mangled from being hammered
this sounds dumb but have you checked your rocker arm bolts?
it sounds exactly like mine right after i put the motor together and had a loose rocker arm bolt...
if they still have any of the rotunda kits like the oil cooler testor kit.... there is a "diesel service kit" for the idi's.... any service manuals...timing meters..... lifts are a hit miss item if your in the market. chances are an equipment dealer will be at that auction and will bid them up...
i cleaned up the front driveshaft i had got for my 4x4 conversion... swapped over a u-joint and was going to install it today but its raining -cuss-cuss-cuss-cuss-cuss gotta run for some bolts today for a few other projects but also for a new lower shock bolt as one decided to fall out completely
