    Missing connection

They make the male threaded because its a easy cheap method of roughing up the terminal to give the female thread something to bite into. The female isn't threaded to allow for easy push on pull off use.

    Bad Glow Plug Circuit

The 2 yellow wires are battery supply to the glowplugs. I would recommend getting some battery cable and use that to power the controller instead of reconnecting the yellow cables. The yellow cables have a bad habit of catching on fire over time as the connectors start to corrode.

Time for a new GP harness

If you have the idit valve covers, you will have a plate attached to the passenger valve cover that the controller will bolt to. You will have to unbolt the controller from the back (there is 2 bolts that hold it to the intake) and move the existing wiring to the new controller location

    New project questions

There is a difference. The turbo ip has a torque screw that changes fueling based on rpm to kinda account for the lack of boost at low rpm. Most people adjust this all the way in to deliver max fuel at all times. The other difference is the turbo ip delivers slightly more fuel than the na...

Time for a new GP harness

If you have a turbo on your truck I would recommend installing the gp controller in the turbo location. Behind the engine it could get too hot and get damaged by the turbo.

    New project questions

With the bearings, I would at least recommend pulling a cap on a main bearing and a rod bearing and check for wear. If its worn i would replace the bearings and rings. The na ip could be good and can be run on a turbo engine if the turbo one is bad.

    1984 6.9 radiator re-core cost

I dont buy it. If plastic was a better thermal conductor wouldn't they make the fins of the radiator out of plastic then? The main reason modern radiators use plastic tanks is because its lighter and cheaper. Nylon plastic, which is most likely the type of plastic used in radiators, has a...

3 narrow rows will have more surface area than 2 wide rows. This in theory should improve cooling although it is possible to be too small of a different to notice

    NEW to me. 7.3 IDI ex-uhaul 1990 f350

The 1990 ford pickups rolled over back to zero after 99999 miles so if it reads 89000 its likely 189000, 289000, etc. Your truck will not have a turbo unless you or a previous owner installed one aftermarket. These engines aren't super powerful so you will be slow when towing. For maintenance...

Looking for Some Sage Wisdom, 85 F250, 6.9IDI

Hopefully I'm wrong but from what I understand, the 6.9, 7.3, and 7.3 idit used different flywheels to compensate for changes in the internals. Its also possible that some (or all) smf manufacturers have adopted a "universal" flywheel that can cross between some of the engines.

Looking for Some Sage Wisdom, 85 F250, 6.9IDI

Bad news, the 6.9 flywheel is different than the 7.3. The way it is balanced is different and will most likely cause a heavy vibration.

    1984 6.9 radiator re-core cost

If it was me, I would avoid the plastic tank radiators like the plague. I've had bad luck with them from the gasket between the core and tank leaking after less than a year of being in the truck to the plastic tank exploding under heavy load leaving the truck stranded. My philosophy regarding...

7.3 idi stalling while on load

The injection pumps tend to last around 120000 to 150000 miles before they start giving issues. If you ever find yourself needing one, make sure you get one from a reputable source. Some rebuilds only reseal worn out ones while others rebuild them to near new or better than new condition. Here...

Fuel Shut Off Solenoid - Clicking but no Fuel? (Shutoff)

People with more experience will correct me if I'm wrong but from what I understand the metering valve controls the fuel entering the case of the ip which in turn limits the return flow. To unstuck the metering valve you will want to clean the ip spotless then pull the top cap. Then very gently...
