Mines been under a cover and I haven't driven it since April. It's sitting in the driveway, ready to go, but I haven't actually seen it uncovered since then. Does that count?
I thought all the automatic IDI's had a FIPL attached to the IP...but mine is a manual so I'm no expert. Someone with experience will chime in here shortly I'm sure.
I'm thinking long bolts will hurt you more than help you. The lip on the firewall necessitates a pretty steep angle to get the trans past it, and I've had good luck putting a jack and a block of wood under the crank pulley to tilt the engine back just a hair. If you do end up wanting some...
I fully understand your desire for the dual mass. If I could go back in time, Id do another dual mass too and have avoided a new transmission and multiple r&r jobs to chase noises and stuff.
That said, my single mass is quiet for now. Is it possible your disc was worn and loose in the hub...
There are two different discs available for the single mass setup. I've been through the same pain with rollover noise, and swapped my clutch and trans more times than I care to admit. Anyhow, get the disc with more springs in the hub. Once I did that, my rollover noise was almost entirely...
Use a touch of RTV inside the groove of the valley pan grommet and around the drain tube before you install into the grommet. I like the Toyota black FIPG sealant- it seals really well. It's like $20/tube at the Toyota dealer if you want to try some. Folks have had good luck with the Permatex...
Mine doesn't drip a drop....but it's a never ending battle to keep up with it. Lots of maintenance, and careful monitoring of things. It sweats some, and puts an oil vapor out of the turbo plumbing from the CDR, so it gets cleaned frequently to be sure it's not a sloppy mess. That said, I'm...
Spun4Fun-
I fully understand your desire to eliminate the oil leak, but I think you should take another look at making the Banks drain tube function properly. There are thousands of them on the road working well, something must be amiss with yours if it's continually leaking. Re-engineering...
That is to drain any water/oil off the top of the valley pan and down the backside of the block. The theory is (I think) to keep water from entering the engine through the CDR/turbo drain hole in the valley pan. It should be clear of debris and allow draining down the back of the block on the...
Its super easy to just replace the 2 o-rings in the heater and repair it. I got mine from a local hydraulics shop, rather than special order from International. They didn't even charge me for them, since I only was there for 2 o-rings.
I know the fuel heater is largely unnecessary, and...
You sure the clutch fork is clipped into the throwout bearing properly? can you get the trans in reverse with the engine off as suggested? Upload your video to youtube and post a link here is usually the easiest way.
I'll echo what everyone has said, and tell you to call and talk to Mel. I'd also consider a nice new set of injectors and return lines to go with the new pump, so you know your fuel system is in great shape.
