big oil leak into compressor?
if there is some carbon build up in there, i poured some howes down the GP hole along with kroil, once its up and runnign again some hard runs should clean it out. assembling the injectors..just clean everything real nice and put some drops of diesel into the injector seat and pintle? Thanks Brian, to the rescue again! my buddy is super happy, he was going to resort to getting a custom one made at a machine shop, $100! he just hooked me up with some new inj washers and an ultra sonic machine, so this was the least i could do for him! -

Sure ill give it a rip tomorrow. however i sprayed a bunch of kroil in there and all other holes after thenfirst initial compression test and its still reading the same on that 1 hole... It cant be a poorly opening wxhaust galve...can it??? Any comments on that number 8 injector? Looks...- Greg5OH

Any tips on reassembling these injecotrs? Took a spare ine i had apart to check it out, all the shims arenin the body, then spring then 3 shims and a little cone, then its the injector pintle. once i take this number 8 apart well see if the carbon is getting up into the injector as well.- Greg5OH

Took number 8 inj out, the one with the eroding tip.. Not gunked at the tip but looks like carbon was getting past the ring?? These were new copper washers..- Greg5OH

The eroding glowplug, read on a few vw 1.9 foums leaky injectors were causing eroding tips too. So i will be taking my injectors apart. Look simple inside, ill just clean em in the US one at a time, or make dividers to do them all at once but organized. Would rather buy new crush washers...- Greg5OH

This all sounds very good and promising. Could very well be the oil grade, and pissing injectors. If we got a dribbling injector on #8 that could also cause the gp to erode? They dont have many miles on them, am i correct to think an uktrasonic clean in some paint thinner will clean em up...- Greg5OH

i dont believe the oil smelled like fuel. Right now I have a bunch of motorcraft diesel 10W30 on hand so i put 10q in the pan before doing my compression checking. May be too thin, will have to monitor and ill pick up some 15w40 Delo later on. I first added the 10w30 2 weeks ago when i...- Greg5OH

could leaky injectors do this? could they make cold starting hard? Ive never heard of a failing IP being hard to start cold, but easy to start warm? Could this be the injectors doing? so there are muliple issues here. -oil gushing past compressor seal -catch can filling up...- Greg5OH

indeed the oil experiment killed my old ones. These are brand new. Ive had at least 5 full tanks of regular diesel through em with a full bottle of howes in each tank.. and they all work on the test bench.- Greg5OH

So did a conpression check. Ip unhooked all gp out. lowest was 370, all others 390-400. Except cyl 1..i was cranking it up to 8-9 times each hole, this thing got up to 500..?? I didnt get around to pulling the valve covers but may be an exhaust valve issue where its not opening up correctly...- Greg5OH

it is below the turbo. about halfway up the block. Dont think so though, the oil collects in the bottom of the compressor housing on shut down, not very much either..- Greg5OH

perhaps I have a stuck ring from when I was running pure oil as a fuel source. I will check comp tonight, if I have a bad hole I will spray some kroil down there, crank it a bit and wait a day or two to retest.- Greg5OH

Yes i drilled 4 more 7/16 holes under the drain. i ordered a restrictor to try it out..but why was it fine and now not? feed is rear of block with 1/8 npt, and -4 line feeding it. But..why is the catch can all full, so quickly?!? Will also do compression check tonight to verify no...- Greg5OH

ZF small shifter rubber boot?
I tore the little underboot that wraps around the shifter base and can be changed by removing the shifter base from the trans. Anyone have a P/N or know where to buy a new one? Thanks.- Greg5OH

burning sheared synthetic oil in IDI?
true, good to know for others. too much time money and effort for me. I realized I can just sell the oil for $50 a barrel :D factor in my time, adding gasoline, cetane booster etc to make about 60-65gallons of fuel, Im probably at the same cost just selling it by the barrel vs buying a full...- Greg5OH
