If you rent them out then yes I would be interested.
If you don't charge rent on them, if you would be so kind to send pics and perhaps the critical dimensions, I could build one.
Thanks
Ok guys, what's the trick to removing press-in oil squirters?
Then, what's the preferred method to reinstall them?
I need to have my block tanked and honed.
I've read an old post where a member removed them and reinstalled them with locktite.
Thanks
Ok thanks.
Now take a gander at the main bearings.
Number 1 is the first pic. #2 second, etc.
Since #1 appears to have more wear than the rest, does this warrant an align hone?
Hey guys, there are so many of you on here with lots of experience with these 6.9s I've got a few more pics to post.
I found on the standard crank, corrosion spots on 2 rod journals.
The spots are between the bearing surfaces. They are about 3/4" long and about 3/16" wide. Opinions sought.
Well I have been doing it off and on for decades but only about 5-6 engines (gas) and never had an issue with them leaking or blowing out.
But I want it done right I don't want to be stranded in the middle of nowhere with a blown out freeze plug.
I just called the local IH shop.
The guy I spoke with said "just use a self-tapping screw and slide hammer to remove the old ones and put some gasket eliminator on the new ones and drive them in using a socket that will fit in the cup." I told him I had read that there is a special tool used to...
Ok guys I'm knee deep in this rebuild.
With only 90k on this engine the block only needs a light honing, and I'll install new cam bearings.
However the coolant passages have a lot of junk and rust in them.
I would like to have it vatted but I read on here don't mess with the freeze plugs if you...
Sweet.
I've decided to take a look at the exhaust side and under the seats. Sounds like it won't take much.
The Ford 400 heads I did, even though they are the Cleveland style ports, they still needed a pretty good bit of grinding especially in the exhaust port, the huge "EGR" bump.
I'll see what...
Wow that's good to know that it is still a reasonably priced procedure. Sounds like it would be a no brainer especially since the engine is completely disassembled.
Thanks for the encouragement.
A pyrometer and boost gauge are mounted on the dash.
This truck was not running when I got it so not sure what it did in the past.
I want longevity with decent power for my intended use.
The Banks set-up I have dates back to the mid 80s.
Is there a way to increase boost on those?
Not sure how much boost they put out originally but from what I have been reading I probably wouldn't go higher than 15.
Hey guys, I'm doing a freshen up job on my 90k miles 1984 F250.
I have a couple questions.
1. I haven't found much info on porting 6.9 heads. For example what areas need to be cleaned up or not even mess with them.
2. What's the going rate to have an IP rebuilt?
Purpose for this truck is to...
