What size hose from auxillary trans cooler to steel factory line?

Brian, it looks like the PS hoses are going into the trans cooler of the radiator, but I have an E4OD so the trans lines have to go there. I actually have a PS cooler mounted up behind the grille in front of aux trans cooler. But, I suppose you could use the trans cooler in the radiator for your...

What size hose from auxillary trans cooler to steel factory line?

The stock steel trans lines are 5/16". they should also have a flare or bubble near the end to help hold the hose on and help seal when a clamp is applied. As Al suggests above, use fuel injection hose clamps as they seal all the way around the hose and don;t distort as much as when tightening...

Please help me get this thing off my shaft!!!

yes, you can cut the bearing off. Cut the outer race off and then be careful cutting the inner. Get close and then split it. I have done this in the past, but the puller is neater. edit - Ironworker beat me to it!

l@@k what i scored in the lone star today!

The front end is looking good! Ya gotta love those late spring storms - we get 'em here in Wisconsin too. You can get rained on, hailed on, sleeted on and snowed on all from the same storm.

    Balancer repair sleeve

So the holes for the exhaust manifold bolts are actually open into an area that has oil in it? I ask because I am pulling the heads on my truck in the near future and I never would have thought I would need any sort of sealer on those. I even bought the "correct" exhaust manifold bolts from...

    Balancer repair sleeve

Laserjock, I remember reading in Jim Allen and Randy Lyman's "Differential" book that if the groove is worn pretty deep, Randy fills the groove in first with some epoxy (like JB Weld or something heavy duty like that) and then sands the area down smooth before installing the speedi-sleeve. Not...

    d50 superduty leafs?

If it were me and someone gave me a set of F-Superduty front springs (not '99 up Superduty springs) I would put the things on craigslist and try and find someone to buy them so I could at least partially finance the purchase of some new, replacement oem rated springs and shocks for the D50. Even...

    Oil in E4OD Wiring Harness?

The oil in wiring connector is not normal. The resident E4OD experts (FORDF250HDXLT and Trackspeeder) will probably see this and can give more experienced advice than I can. The seal on the solenoid pack connector inside the trans has failed allowing fluid into the connector. I am not sure if...

l@@k what i scored in the lone star today!

Looking good! You inspired me to get off my butt and get to work installing my new headlight assemblies. I knew it would be a pain but nowhere near as much work as you have to do. You will be happy with it once you get that work done though - a solid front end once again!;Sweet

    Dip stick tube broken??

Oh, crap - I wonder if I ordered the right one then! Guess I had better measure. Always better to measure after you have the new part in handLOL

    Dip stick tube broken??

Mine isn't leaking yet, but is badly rusted, so I am replacing it when I pull the heads in the near future. Thank goodness you can still buy these things from Ford and they aren't outrageously expensive - yet.

7.3 Head Gasket Replacement-ARP Head Stud Install

Thanks, Russ - I appreciate the reply! I would assume the shop will know this but will make sure when I take the heads in.

7.3 Head Gasket Replacement-ARP Head Stud Install

I found a set of new OEM Ford valve springs. Russ, can I assume that if I keep the stock cam, these OEM springs will not need to be shimmed, or will the machine shop still need to determine that for certain when changing the seals and reassembling the valves? Weather is getting nicer so it...

    BRICK NOSE BLOW OUT!!!

Boy, somebody with an OBS should snap up that hydroboost auto pedal! It is not like those show up everyday. The rest of the HB parts are easy to find compared to finding the correct HB pedal assembly.

    Fuel Pressure Gauge

The only other thing I can think of that might make a difference is the fact that the gauge face is pointed upwards. I wouldn't think that would matter, as the gauge is simply reading the pressure of the fluid acting upon. However, I have mine mounted on the fitting for the "restricted filter...

    Fuel Pressure Gauge

You may need to vent the gauge to get it to read properly. See the following link:http://www.marshallinstruments.com/FAQs/index.cfm Go down to the FAQ that says "why isn't my gauge reading properly?" I have a Marshall gauge on my filter head and it generally reads about 3psi at idle and maybe...

DOORS! OBS vs XL vs XLT????

Oh, there is a little horizontal "crease" in the door skin an inch or two up form the bottom of the doors. You can see it on the pic Brian posted. Not a big deal - just something Ford decided to add for some reason to confuse us all and make it harder to match doors when replacing them.

DOORS! OBS vs XL vs XLT????

My 1994 does not have the extra "line" at the bottom of the doors, and all the sheet metal is original. BUT, it is an XL truck and not the higher end XLT, so maybe that has something to do with it. The build date for my truck was also May, 1994, so maybe trucks built later in the year got the...

    ford frustrated

There are many, many threads on air intrusion issues on this forum. It is, perhaps, one of the most frustrating, but generally the simplest problems that affect the idi's. It can be very discouraging when trying to resolve the air intrusion issue, as it seems like you check everything but the...

How to verify injection pump/cam timing

If you left the timing gear cover in place, then the timing gear should not have been able to "jump" out of the correct position. That is why nearly everyone here says to leave the gear cover in place when changing the IP. Here is a link to my thread when I had to remove the gear cover so I...

DOORS! OBS vs XL vs XLT????

Brian, I "think" that was added to the bottom of the doors for the 1996-1997 model years. I "thought" it only happened in 1997 model year trucks (which ran into 1998 as well prior to the introduction of the SD), but now seeing the pic of the 1996 it would seem that year also received that on the...

    Head bolts ?

I assume this is on the 6.9? I know you are on a budget, but if it were me, I would really be trying to find a way to get some funds together and buy the ARP stud kit. With the 7/16" head bolts the 6.9 has, it can really benefit from the added strength of the studs. Do it once and do it right. I...

7.3 Head Gasket Replacement-ARP Head Stud Install

Thanks, Russ - I was hoping you would provide some input on the valve springs. OLDBULL8 Bill, if you wouldn't mind, can you ship your cam to Russ? I will send you a payment- check, money order or however you want-just let me know. Thanks! Looks like Russ needs cam cores and even if I don't...

    Quick valve umbrella seal question

Koch13351-thanks for asking this question. I probably would be asking this same question down the road when I have the heads on my truck out and in to the shop. I am glad a few of the resident gurus weighed in with their wealth of experience!
