    Wiper problem! Need help fast

While you've got the motor I would run your wipers until it quits on ya, then unplug your wiper motor on the truck and plug it into the new motor (without installing it). If the new motor works flawlessly then you've found your problem. I had a bad motor that caused no intermittent wipers...

4" aluminum intake pipe, 111.8" serpentine belt

Got some 4" aluminum intake tubing I bought here: http://store.airflo.com/al4.html I have 3.5 feet of it. Make an offer on how much you want (or all of it) and I'll figure up shipping and we can make a deal. Got a 111.8 inch serpentine belt for these trucks, 6 rib I believe. Brand new, PO...

    Swappin' a bed

With that much rust I'd just cut/grind your bolts off from the top side. Maybe that was your plan, but mine were dang near impossible to get off even with an impact, and I have an almost rust free truck.

After some investigating last night, I have a few ?'s with pictures...

Correct, 6 rib on an 8 rib accessory. I try to align it when installing so its as straight as possible on the pulley, not constantly stretching one side of the belt or the other. Cool to see another college guy here. I graduate with Mechanical Engineering exactly one year for now, as long...

    Road draft tube

Plenty of guys do it. I have and I have a lot of oil leaks as a result of running a pressurized crankcase. I am planning on venting it into the exhaust, and get the exhaust to pull a bit of a vacuum on the crankcase. That way the nasty vapors will go in the exhaust, far away from my open...

After some investigating last night, I have a few ?'s with pictures...

You definitely don't want anything but Motorcraft/beru glowplugs. It will probably be hard to get them for a decent price locally, so plan ahead and order them online. If you wait you might get a great deal, usually they can be found for $10 each or so. Before you go to do the glowplugs...

    Just a 'lil pricey

Why someone would bother painting it without first fixing the body is beyond me. Probably didn't do much for prep, and rust will be peeking through in a few months. He's got a few grand in the truck and thinks its now worth that much extra. I think I might email him and offer him 12k for...

Never mind, I saw some in the other thread. Hmmm, I'll have to think about it.

    DOOR STRIKER ???

5' of 1/2" pex - $4.00 (they didn't have it by the foot) Installing 4 new plastic striker sleeves - 30 minutes Having your truck 17 year old truck latch like its new - priceless. I never even knew I was supposed to have any plastic on my latches. Then one day, when I opened one of the rear...

fuel filter light in the dash again

Make sure it isn't grounding on anything. When I first put the used engine in my truck, the aftermarket banks old style turbo housing didn't play well with the 7.3 filter. It was rubbing on the filter head and causing the fuel filter light to come on intermittently.

    Headlight relay kit

I got my relays with plug female connectors (maybe they all come that way?). So I had to cut and splice for the install, but now if I ever need to replace a relay, its yank the bad one out and put the new one back in. I could do it in 20 seconds. Also, if you do have one bad relay, you could...

I want to buy mirrors that I see on any OBS Uhaul. Do they sell any of them ever?

Is running a singled dually rim on a trailer a bad idea?

Its supposed to run a standard SRW type rim, but you want to run a dually rim on it? Or is it supposed to run duals and you want to just run the outside dual? Either way, the engineer in me screams no, you'll be increasing the moment the bearing experiences and may cause failure. But common...

    Fuel pump... was thinking

I say go for it. Maybe I'll be the first. Since I run vegetable oil I'm always tearing my system open and having to crank to prime. Its not difficult, really, especially after the amount of practice I have. I refuse to run an electric only, because they fail way more often than a mechanical...

    6.9 started stalling out yesterday

Sometimes people fill their fuel filter full of their favorite additive or ATF, motor oil or whatever they have around if they don't have any diesel. Maybe thats what he did and why it fixed it for a while. I hope it works for ya...

    In Bed Fuel Tank

You should be fine, but that is a good question that I had never thought of. The added height on the return leg would add well under a quarter psi additional pressure to pump, I'm certain the pressure lost in the fittings, elbows, and hose itself add more than that.

    6.9 started stalling out yesterday

Sounds like classic injection pump failure. Its starting to go now, something gets gummed up in there and it can't return to idle without you babying the throttle. I'd run a heavy dose of some ATF or your favorite injector cleaner through it to try to free it up, while its still driveable, and...

    20.1 MPG (1682 miles / 83.8 gallons US)

I'm sure speed is the biggest factor, but if you had the topper on thats in your signature pic I'd say it would do some to eliminate some drag.

    my truck - into

BEAUTIFUL truck. That thing has obviously been garaged a lot. My Dad has a red 97 PSD and is still gorgeous. Mines only 3 years older but sure doesn't look as good. You've got everything I want in a truck. When I got mine it was everything I wanted, except a factory turbo.

    One sweet IDI 5er hauler!

I was afraid it'd be a van. Pretty fugly if you ask me. Looks like there was a lot of inattention to detail. That picture with the fire extinguisher showing that ratsnest of wires would be enough to scare me off. But it does look to be pretty comfortable for a long haul. How many people...

Here is some wonderfful news from Ats!

A good reason not to ever put anything with ATS written on it on ANY vehicle. If you want to keep it a long time they'll decide its time for you to buy something newer and spend more money with them... Surely there's somebody that can make some, or even some other application that has a part...

    CL find in Indy area....

His ad said he wanted to trade for something he was interested in, or would consider selling for the right price. That said to me he is wanting way too much for it. I bet it would be a cool truck but not 8k or even 5k cool.

    Safe Towing Weight

Try coming over the pass between Laramie, WY and Walden, CO. Elevation over 9000 ft I believe. About 10 miles of uphill. Coming down the other side I didn't touch the throttle for about 20 minutes. I actually drove north on I80 through Nebraska so I could avoid the section of the Rockies...
