I generally like to keep things as stock as possible, but a manual glowplug system is not one that I like stock. My relay wouldn't keep the plugs on long enough, even with 8 brand new berus, and I got tired of cycling the key and trying to trick it. One manual switch later and have been happy...
I'm needing to replace the inner shift boot on my truck. Last time I had the transmission out, their were two boots. One is the one you see when you're sitting in the cab. Its held down by four screws and you lift it up to unbolt the shifter. Next, if you want to pour fluid in the...
I bought a similar part at autozone for $40 when my AC pump seized on me. When I finally get my AC back I'll be keeping it in the toolbox, just in case.
I left about 1" gap on my tank. I have a piece of plywood back there, in case I have to crawl under and do some sort of roadside repair in rain or snow. I figured an inch or two less of cargo space wouldn't be noticed.
As to headache racks, I don't really know the answer. I haven't looked at...
My truck hasn't been running quite right the last few weeks (I only drive it once or twice a week). It didn't feel quite like a clogged fuel filter, but just not quite right.
So I finally got around to installing a fuel pressure gauge. Put it in post filter, which is the only place that...
This has been discussed quite a bit. If you search you'll find plenty of threads discussing it.
Many people recommend Moose products, and from what I've read they're no doubt the best. However, there is a good wait time and cost is definitely up there.
I'm happy with my pump from Oregon...
It certainly will have an effect, however the difference I think will be so small that it would be impossible to tell if it was helping or hurting. So many factors play into it that its hard to dial in on one variable. I'd do whatever is most convenient for you.
I would really be interested in seeing some proven numbers on DT360s. The post above suggests 400 hp and 600 ftlb torque, thats a start. I can't find very much info at all on the 360, except lots of people complaining how gutless it is. I search youtube and can't find a single DT360 in a...
Nice lookin truck.
I think dark gray or tan rockers would look pretty good. I like bed liner myself, just because it helps keep the rock chips down, and I think it looks tough.
I had similar rain deflectors above my windows when I got my truck, although mine were cracked. I pulled them off...
Is it really hard starting? I would think it would be with only 1 working glowplug. If it starts easy maybe the shop is trying to sell you a set of glowplugs. Mine will start with no glow but it needs to be a warm summer day and about a 10 second crank, maybe mines not in as good a shape as...
All timing has been done on regular diesel fuel. I don't really know what kind of boost I'm making, because I don't really believe the gauge. Around town it really doesn't move, maybe 2-3 psi. I haven't had a chance to go out on the highway, before changes I didn't make more than 5 psi...
Well I finally got the truck timed thanks to one of icanfixall's meters. Set it right about 9-9.3 at 2000 RPM, using the pulse method on the #1 injector line. The IP is a little over a year and 12000 miles old, rebuilt non-turbo pump from Oregon Fuel Injection, as are the injectors which were...
Sounds like you've got a fair amount of oil coming out. I wouldn't be able to accept a puddle everywhere I park. I had a similar issue when I put my RDT in, I re routed it to make it go up before coming back down. That way more oil runs back in the crankcase instead of out the tube. It...
I've got just over 13k miles on my lucky mod. No problems so far.
You can get a lucky modded flywheel resurfaced, just like any single mass flywheel. But it has to be bolted together first to make it a single mass and not a dual mass.
You never know what you might get from a fuel station. Plus, diesel sucks up water and it all ends up on the bottom.
I have been wanting to tie the tanks together. Basically make the rear tank feed into the front tank with a welded fitting on the bottom. Then I would only bother with the...
A body lift wll help a lot here. I have a 3 inch but two would be fine, 1 might be enough. I feel your pain on getting the exhaust pipes to line up. Been there done that.
Yep, do make sure you get a thermostat from the Ford dealership... apparently the aftermarket ones aren't worth anything for thermostats. It'd be a good idea to have a little coolant to replace the small amount you'll spill.
If the light is not on after its sat for a while and only comes...
The stock gauges really are useless. My stock temp gauge reads the same temperature from about 170 on up to operating temperature. I've never overheated so I don't know if it would go higher, though I probably wouldn't notice cause I'm paying attention to my real gauge.
My stock oil pressure...
Whose truck is this? I've been thinking of making a similar bumper for mine...
Thanks for the great pictures and videos. A lot of nice trucks there. Maybe I'll make it to a rally one day.
I prefer my manual switch personally, but its an interesting modification. If I were to do something like that I'd use a real automotive switch that closes at 120 degrees or so, mounted in a coolant line to get an accurate reading of whether its warm. Whatever is added, it should not be...
