Yeah, that's about the best idea right now. I also have a box of lead-containing gel cells, some dead nicad batteries, etc. All the stuff you aren't supposed to throw in the trash!
This is not a tree-hugging area, but low taxes mean low services... some years they don't even have the household...
I am on septic, so it's not going there.
Although sewage treatment plants can handle the antifreeze, in many cities (including all the large ones in MO) it's illegal to do so.
I just exchanged my one-year-old green coolant (with VC-8 additive) for Zerex G-05, by repeatedly draining and refilling with distilled water (4 gal each time is all that would come out). In doing so I accumulated 4 gals. of 50/50 which I'll use in my '65 F-350 with a coolant leak from a head...
The stock oil pressure "sender" is nothing more than a switch that closes above 7 psi (lots of info online about the Ford fake oil pressure gauge). Your meter is showing 12 volts because its resistance is much higher than the source resistance through the gauge coils, and some current draw is...
Interesting. I assume that's due to the presence of an ATF cooler in the lower tank? I thought the main core itself had the same amount of area regardless. My truck's a manual so that wouldn't be a problem either way.
I'm impressed that they actually used crimp connectors (and not twist-n-tape like my truck's PO, the dumbass). Extra points if they didn't have a proper crimp tool and used dikes
I've been reading analog (and digital) meters for well over 40 years and I can tell 1100 from 1150 at a glance too ;)
You're probably also aware of the difference between accuracy and resolution. Knowing that the temp is "about 1100" is close enough for our purposes. The digital may say it's...
I bought another cheap pyrometer which hardly cost any more than a spare probe. Haven't experimented with it yet since my not-quite-as-cheap pyro is working fine.
Meanwhile, here is a pic of the box for your viewing pleasure:
It's not only hi-performance and high quality, but it's fast and...
There was a thread on here back in June 2018 and the 4070 didn't do any better or worse than the other reasonably-priced electric pumps. Not maintaining 5 psi at the filter head under WOT.

I haven't found many recent threads, so I'm just wondering what the current recommendations are for IDI radiators. I don't have a visible leak on the copper/brass one that's in the truck now, but I can smell something and it's only a matter of time...
In increasing order of price, the options...
That is quite possibly the problem - but needs verification with a decent meter before making the diagnosis.
The output of electric fuel pumps drops VERY sharply as the supply voltage (at the pump terminals) goes from 13.8 volts to 12.0 or lower. I learned this by experiment when I was...
Hmm... that's a 52 gph pump, too. :dunno
I haven't checked the fuel pressure on my Facet 40285 yet, but the filter light does not come on (and the light does work). That's only rated at 33 gph.
Coolant exchange completed. At least now if the seep is still there, I can just replace it with more G-05 and distilled water, rather than have to worry about SCA concentration.
I'll hold off on the Irontite for now since it would have to be done while there's nothing but water in the system...
That's be useful. I'm in the middle of a coolant flush - I can get about 4-5 gallons out at a time without removing the block plugs. Draining the second 4 gals. of distilled water. Third time of a 4/8 exchange will be 1/8 of the original mixed coolant remaining, or 0.5 gallon of green. Fourth...
What exactly are you referring to by the "battery gauge"? The dash voltmeter? That's not useful in determining the state of charge other than a crude indication of higher voltage (probably charging) or lower voltage (draining or not charging). And really low with the glow plugs on.
My batteries...
Ya think? :sly Thanks for the reassurance... temps have been going down to the 20's at night so I definitely will get the 50/50 final mix completed during the day. :cool
Hoping I can find my slow leak(s) too - I'm still worrying that it's coming from the rear of the head gaskets since I got it...
I was just wondering, is it harmful to the water pump seal to run (only) water in the cooling system? I need to flush my old antifreeze, so during the drains and refills with distilled water, is it OK to drive the truck for half an hour or so, to get it hot? Or should i restrict running time to...
