    445, 444, or 436??

Oh, OK then.. Pi (3.14159) x radius squared (5.2195cm x 5.2195cm), or 27.24318cm = 85.5869sq. cm. So far so good? Bore area (85.5869 sq. cm) x stroke (10.439cm) = 893.4416cc per cylinder x 8 cylinders = 7,147.533cc, or 7.14L.... Hmmmm, Lets convert 7.147L to cu. in.... Wow! 436.137 cu. in...

    445, 444, or 436??

I think I may have slipped a cog in my brain... I was checking cylinder bores with a snap gauge a few minutes ago and grabbed the Haynes manual to see if they were still in the ballpark. I noted that bore and stroke are square (4.11" x 4.11"). I decided to see for myself whether our 7.3L engines...

Turbo time thanks to head gasket leak

If I have figured it right, there should be 24 clocking combinations that will still allow the wastegate actuators/rods to align for proper function- and both turbos are going to be under the front floorboard area on each side of the transmission, so if things fit the way I think they will, I...

Turbo time thanks to head gasket leak

I checked the price on headers for our engines... OMG! I can see why you'd fab your own.. Since I haven't pulled the engine yet I haven't checked- but are the exhaust manifolds cast iron or steel? If I need to mod the driver side one, that'll def make a difference.

Turbo time thanks to head gasket leak

Weekly Update Been getting a lot of rain here, practically every day, so most of what's been done over the last week has been in the shop.. I fabbed up two small radius turbo exhaust pipes and got the V-band flanges welded on.. Did a little surgery and got post intercooler charge piping in...

Turbo time thanks to head gasket leak

I wasn't even thinking about clearance, my concern was heat from the turbo hot side..

Turbo time thanks to head gasket leak

Vandy, You know that I'm remote mounting those turbos, right? That Airaid hat is made from some kind of thick tough plastic, but I'm not sure it would be the best solution if you're gonna have your turbo in the traditional location..

Turbo time thanks to head gasket leak

Well, the money was saved, parts were purchased and the prep work has begun. If it doesn't rain next weekend then the engine gets pulled. I've been following Vandy7.3's build and other turbo refit posts, gleaning all the info I can. I won't know how much else may need to be done to Henry until I...

    NEED MORE BOOST

No thread-jack intended, but this is something I read about here quite a while back and would like to do since the engine is coming out next weekend for head gaskets, studs, F&R seals and whatever else needs attending to.. Is it something I can do at home or do I need to take the heads back to...

Got a turbo kit, some questions and install thread

THAT is a good idea- practically all the other electrical is over there anyway, and I can shorten up that big positive cable by a considerable margin..

    Fuel lift pump problems!

The injector lines- right? The only way I know to tighten them (and there may be a smarter/easier/faster way) is to take them off the pump, starting at the top, until you can tighten the bottom two really well with a fuel line wrench, and then carefully reinstall and tighten each one, side to...

    typ4 - Hey Russ..

I briefly saw (at work) that you responded to my PM, but I couldn't read it because the company has a policy against downloading certain mail/messaging software that was necessary to see it.. Now I'm home and can't get the prompt to download again. Seems like it's somehow associated with...

Rpm going down the road after tach sensor replacement

Lots of folks will swear by lots of different things as far as lubricating an IP goes, but in all honesty if you just split an 8oz. bottle of any decent 2-stroke oil between front and back tanks at every fill-up, it will provide all the lubrication and more that the old high sulfur diesel did...

Turbo time thanks to head gasket leak

I vaguely seem to remember that the AIRAID 300-100 intake hat fits our engines- can anyone confirm this?

Turbo time thanks to head gasket leak

Thanks Vandy, I'll try to keep it interesting, shouldn't be too hard with all the mistakes I'm likely to make.. Since I'm doing it at home in the driveway in a deed restricted HOA subdivision, the actual engine pull is going to have to be done fast, so I can get it into the garage before...

Turbo time thanks to head gasket leak

Hey Everybody, It's been awhile since I checked in, but I still read most days.. Well, Henry has become afflicted with a head gasket leak or two, what appears to be a front main seal leak and possibly a rear seal leak. While I have the engine out the ZF-5 is going to be rebuilt- I'm tired of...

    Ignition Switch Problems

When you say "switch" are talking about where you put the key, or the actual electronic switch on the column up under the dash? The reason I ask is because the one under the dash is usually the culprit in these cases..

Looking for a new WMO recipe, What's Yours?

Ah OK, no wonder.. I have a '54 Ferguson TO30 that looks virtually identical. From my readings on the 8n, early Fergusons were pretty much clones.

Looking for a new WMO recipe, What's Yours?

Summer 80/20 WMO- kerosene Winter 70/30, no octane.. I know RUG is cheaper by a few cents a gallon, but you really are better off using kerosene for thinning. No need at all for gasoline in diesel fuel. JM2C..

    Electric fuel pump options

This little beasty stands up to WMO blends just fine and the pressure seems to be about perfect with no regulator- about 5-7 psi under load and 8-10 at idle. My fuel pressure gauge is actually a boost gauge mounted on the hood, very easy to monitor under all conditions. This Wallbro is easily...

    Transmission to Block Bolt size?

While having my daughter pump the clutch pedal so I could bleed the slave cylinder, I noticed movement of the trans relative to the engine.. Upon further inspection I found that the bolt over the area of the starter that holds the trans to the engine was missing. Yay, wonderful... Anyway, I am...
