Manual. Glow. Plugs. I imagine your controller would be easy to get to with the dog house pulled. It's still a 6.9 controller everyone seems to dislike. It's a round can with a plug on the top of it in the drivers head in an F series.- dgr

The round solenoid on your controller can be removed and mounted elsewhere. It'll make a good start to a manual system. You may even just be able to use the controller, take off the white wire, run a momentary switch to ground and have a functioning manual glow plug controller. The blue wire...- dgr

If that's the only oil filter on the trick, you might want to start a thread on that filter choice. Most of us run a 2 quart filter for a 7.3 PSD. Off the shelf at any parts store. I don't know how much oil our pumps flow but I think it is a lot. The FL1A doesn't flow a lot of oil. I'd be...- dgr

That looks like glass reinforced plastic? I would expect to find a formed o-ring in the halves. I'm really not sure the best way to deal with that. I'm really not sure what gasket sealant to use with plastics. I think that permatex #2 would be safe to use. It has an alcohol solvent. It...- dgr

I wouldn't use silicone where there is fuel or where there are small ports or other things to get clogged with the squeeze out. I'd try permatex #2.- dgr

Well before you throw a tractor starter solenoid in there, check for power at the top post in your pic. Ground the bottom post and see if that solenoid is good. Whichever direction you go, ohm the coil to see what amperage it is going to pull. Tractor solenoid may not be the same. They are...- dgr

I went and measured the resistance in the coil of my 6.9 gpr. 3.4 ohms. That's 3.5 to 4 amps. I would think 10 amps would be plenty for wiring it. Your meter is much nicer than mine. What's it read? http://www.dieselhub.com/maintenance/idi-manual-glow-plug-switch.html Looking at above the...- dgr

So what did you do with your truck today?
Freeze? What's that? I just tested some lawn sprinkler valves by twisting the solenoids. They both came on and didn't turn off. They're pooched. So I turned off the shut off right there that's meant for shutting ALL the water off. Nope. Some genius tied them in upstream so I had to shut off...- dgr

Jet fuel doesn't have any lubricant. Good stuff when it's free. Add some outboard oil to it. If I read that right, once your truck is started and has sat for awhile but is still hot, it is hard to start. Try pouring a bottle of room temp water on rear part of the IP. That's a little over engineering. Starter solenoid. 5 amp switch and fuse and done. It wouldn't hurt to slap some fusible links on the wires feeding the gps or a pair of mega fuses. My parts store 6.9 gp relay seems to work fine. Others have noted longevity issues. White Rogers relay is an...- dgr

@Knuckledragger Wes posted this company. Report back on how they work so I can buy one too. I run 150 miles. Switch to the back tank that works and run another 150. Then fill up with give or take 30 gallons. The working sending unit stresses me more than the front, broken one. LoL...- dgr
