I suppose I have forgotten to give an update, haha! Well the truck has been running decent. Right now Mel has the injection pump cause it was leaking fuel at the advance piston. I also asked him to see if he can get anymore fuel out of it without too much work. I'm still recouping financally...
Well it looks like check-in is after 2pm so it really doesn't pay for us to be there before unless you guys wanted to get there early for some reason. That being said we could always meet at Carlisle at 11am on Sunday in case someone wanted to grab a bite to eat before getting on the road again...
I have a 38 gallon tank in my truck. I got it from rock auto. For some reason they only list it under the gas powered trucks, but it works fine for the diesels too. That all being said I'm running one tank now so my range hasn't changed any, lol!
I myself have been curious to try a light water/meth setup since I'm still non-intercooled. That being said egts aren't an issue for me yet, but it's still been on my mind.
The Flying J at Carlisle might also be a good meet up option so people don't have to back track to the Love's close to my house. How would that hold out fuel wise for you @no mufflers if we all met up there instead?
1501 Harrisburg Pike,
Carlisle, PA 17013
@no mufflers yeah the easiest is to take 78 to the end and catch 81 north 1 exit to exit 90. I've noticed google maps has been taking me some strange ways lately too. Is that the way you came down last time or did you come down 84 to 81 south?
Yeah, I'm only 20mins from Harrisburg. I'm up for meeting where ever. I know @no mufflers was in need of fuel till he got to love's near my house. But it's up to you guys, we could meet up a little south of Harrisburg too. Whatever is easiest. This year I'll be towing a camper we are borrowing...
I'm game for another convoy! Did you want to meet up at the Love's in Lickdale, PA where we did last year? 22 Old Forge Rd, Jonestown, PA 17038 is the address for love's.
@F350camper My brother's girlfriend called today. She thinks we got site 45, but didn't get a confirmation yet. I'm planning on coming down the whole week, but my brother and his girl friend are probably only going to come down mid week to join me.
I like the serpentine setup too. I remember reading somewhere that a single groove v-belt didn't give enough contact area to drive some of the 3g alternators unless you went to a larger pulley which spins it slower.
I don't know the exact figures, but my ford manual shows different spring heights for intake and exhaust. I shimmed my exhaust springs to 1.8 and left the intakes shimless at 1.78
I got some more done on the truck this weekend and even got to take it out for a few test runs! The exhaust is done for the moment, though I may revisit installing dauls this winter, got my correct fuel pressure sender installed, and a few other small things. Next is getting the hood back on and...
I believe all of the 99 and up supeedutys with a 10.5 sterling come factory with 75w140 synthetic in them. Since it's basically the same rear as ours thats what I plan on running. I always liked Amsoil so that's what I'll be installing at some point this winter.
So the regulator on the engine is actually working like it should. I'm still thinking I'm going to ditch it over the winter once I get the correct spring for the Fass pump.
So after bypassing my engine mounted regulator and still only getting 2 psi on my gauge in the truck vs the 15psi on the pump mounted gauge I knew something wasn't right. I thread the mechanical gauge in the port at the engine and I actually do have 15psi there. So I'm looking at the fuel...
@david85 Well just remember boost psi doesn't exactly equal flow or more importantly efficiency. For example I had a friend with a 5.9 cummins in a dodge that was pushing near 40psi with the stock turbo. When he switched to a larger more efficient turbo he actually lost psi down to 32psi, but...
Sweet! I bet it feels pretty good to run her now. How were the smoke levels? I bet once you get your injectors all popping at the same pressure again you'll have even better power.
The Fass is a 90gph pump I believe. After talking with the guys at Fass I think I'm going to get the 10psi spring and he said I can try to smash it a little or clip it some to lower the pressure. In hindsight a return style regulator probably would have been a better choice on the engine. If I...
