    Ford Medium-Duty split diff's

You'd be surprised, I'd bet it wasn't much worse than a comparable diesel from that era. ;Sweet

    Ford Medium-Duty split diff's

Anyone who the last year that Ford equipped a F600-F800 with a two-speed diff? Also, anyone know what model it was, like a 'Sterling 1474' or something?

Considering Headache rack and rails on my 2001 F350

I can safely say that I DEFINITELY have seen FAR worse looks on a truck, though your head-ache rack seems to be missing possibly the most useful part.... the middle section. Without that middle section, it's almost like nothing is there, and it's a security risk that someone could climb inside...

    Project Big Red

Looks like a nice starting point, that truck looks pretty solid and straight, so that shouldn't be a real problem. The core support thing, heck, if you had decent metal fab skills, and a tubing bender( a small one, capable of square tube can be had from Harbor Freight, Northern Tool...

Just fixed it an have problems again

Man, I can tell you this outta all my work on cars and trucks and generally anything mechanical, basically anything can happen. Your pick-ups could be broken off, or your pump could be sucking air somewhere, or whatever. Anything is possible, man. Not really helpful, but hey, it's true.

    C3500HD Bed onto F450

What's wrong with the current truck, that is inspiring you to think of replacing it?

    C3500HD Bed onto F450

It's all about the wheelbase and width of the truck. If you have decent metal fabrication skills, it could easily be modified to fit, either through adapters or what-have-you. Most 'aftermarket' flat-beds are sorta generic, and are often designed to fit an assortment of trucks, so you shouldn't...

    Cleaning chrome

Coincidentally, some of THE BEST degreaser that can be bought is 'Super Big Red' by some refinery products company in Texas. That stuff is WICKED good as a degreaser, but it can and will also damage the paint of trucks if you use it, but the damage is more like using STRONG dish soap on your...

    Cleaning chrome

@ Jasper I used-to work at a truck salvage company that used that stuff to cleans it's trucks and engines/trans/parts off. If you used it on the truck's paint, it took ALL the shine off. The stuff it some bad stuff, I got some 'mist' that was cast off on a part I was spraying down, it took me...

    Hello Members with Medium duties

Well, I own several medium duty trucks: A '40s International with the stock straight-6 -that I'm gonna put either a DT360 or DT466/fuller/split diff into. 51 Ford F-6 with the stock flathead-6 - I'm gonna put a 7.8 Brazilian/Fuller/split diff combo into. 56 GMC 450 with the original...

    Cleaning chrome

I'll say this about Alumabrite, it works fine on stuff that is durable and can take a little harsh treatment. It can discolor engine paint, and other paints used in the auto industry, it will degrease and cleans, but it is CAUSTIC, and it WILL cause SEVERE chemical burns if proper safety...

GVW, GCWR and Towing capacity of 2003 E450?

Yeah, I know all that, as my dad has had his 'A' with combinations, tanker, and formerly Haz-Mat for nearly 20 years. The hard part about getting an 'A' these days is finding someone willing to let you practice-with and use for the test.

GVW, GCWR and Towing capacity of 2003 E450?

@ Jasper, part of he problem is that I'm sorta looking at an online auction thing that's like 1,000 miles from my ouse, so looking at the doorjamb is sorta hard. :puke:

GVW, GCWR and Towing capacity of 2003 E450?

@ Towcat What's a 'GN'? I presume you mean 'fifth wheel' when you say 'fiver'. I'm not too worried about the total weight violating my license rating, I have a CDL that means I can currently do 10,000lbs trailer alone, though I'm currently looking to step-up from my 'B' with air...

GVW, GCWR and Towing capacity of 2003 E450?

I know the rig could do it, but considering I might also be using the truck for commercial purposes, I don't want to risk violating the GCWR.

GVW, GCWR and Towing capacity of 2003 E450?

Potentially a camper weighing in at around 8,000-9,000lbs.

GVW, GCWR and Towing capacity of 2003 E450?

I'm sorta looking at a 2003 E450 Superduty ambulance for a towing application, but I would eliminate all the ambulance bodywork and that to drop the wet weight.

GVW, GCWR and Towing capacity of 2003 E450?

Therefor, I sorta need to know what the maximums are, because I can't make the GVW go up, but I can eliminate any excess without violating the rules, thus meaning I can add weight without violating that damned GVW and GCWR.

GVW, GCWR and Towing capacity of 2003 E450?

It's a cut-away cab and chassis that they built an ambulance on. It's two wheel drive, the current configuration is sorta irrelivant as I'd bob-off anything I don't need, which would mean the ambulance body and a small section of frame after the rear axle.

1991 3/4 ton Ford Ranger build

1991 3/4 ton Ford Ranger build

Great, now you need to drive it across a scale with yourself in the truck. You really might want to underestimate the GVW because most of the time, like whenever I've driven a commercial vehicle, I'll look at the VW and usually the total vehicle GVW is lower than the combined totals from the...

    drivline splitter

Well, of course I did, but HONESTLY who in the hell uses a min-truck for anything but driving to and from work, or to the store? cookoo LOL Besides, in a world where a LTL9000 can be pulling an 80,000lb GVW, the paltry like 10,000lb range the F250 can do, comparing them is madness...
