    I assume when you need to shift gears, the vehicle sort of "drops back"( lack of better term). Until you shift?

    Yeah, he's done some massive work to dash and column. Can't wait to dive into that....my plan is to get the engine bay, fuel and brakes ready to run then reluctantly dive into the dash..... then seats.... <sigh> positive note is the P.O. has done things quite well so far.

    Slushboxes, or automatics, can use cruise control, not manuals. Because the cruise control increases/ decreases engine RPM to match set speed. Using a manual the cruise control would send rpms past the redline, trying to get to set speed. Of course unless there is other technology involved

    Great info. There's no vacuum line. Do you know where the source is so I can make sure it's capped? I'll most likely label and tape the plug up. Never know what I want to do, hell might lose a leg and hafta go automatic :confused:

    As long has the cap's psi is rated for the system it should work. And yes, i second a relief valves. Far as spinning the motor freely, I'm new to diesel, but.... no I don't think it should spin freely.

    Well, what ever automatic was bolted into it is long gone. Gone manual. So I'll just have to add to junk pile. Far has electrical, anything I need to bypass? Or unplug and tuck it away?

    I'm new to deiseld but in gassers, I know bad/ improper radaitor caps can cause collapse hoses. I'm thinking under the assumption that there are no sharp bends in the hose.

    Not much to look at right now, ugly as sin. Once I get drivetrain right, I'll get to the body. But here's some progress pics. Mostly modifying gas radiator support to fit a diesel radiator. Yep, putting my boy to work to!
