White smoke out exhaust and puking oil....HELP

Not sure if this helps but I have a 1998 Jetta III with 255K. I have done all the maintenance on this car. Sounds like something I ran into earlier this year. Not sure if the IV has a white thermostat valve on top of the fuel filter but the III does. This valve went bad and was allowing...- rgaus

DB Starters
Not sure what 'DB' is? Is this a reduction drive starter? Replacing old style starters with reduction drive is the best thing since slice beard ;>)- rgaus

7.3L IDI Battery Load Test
On dual battery systems... If one battery is weaker/bad, I replace both batteries and usually test/save the stronger battery for single battery application. Seem to alway have a spare core laying around to exchange. Bob G.- rgaus

how far would you go?
BJ, How did you make out with the rebuild? Bought a 1989 F250 with 7.3 for $500. Was on its way to scrapper. The engine as greeting coolant into oil and oil into coolant. Wa also blowing coolant out radiator when start to warm up. To go complete tear down and sleeve bore(s) if needed...- rgaus

Flywheel bolt snapped during torquing...
Wow, When I first read this thread, thought some one in the past used an impact wrench and over torque the bolt past its elastic limit. New bolt, that really instill confidence in the remaining bolts ;>) . If the bolt shoulder is neck down, it is probably a one time use stretch bolt. I...- rgaus
