E4OD draining battery
I got under the truck and the click is definitely coming from the trans where the wires plug into the solenoid body assembly on the passenger side of truck. While we messed with it today it stopped but we used the key several times. Perhaps it is the key switch glitch. Will have to look into...- patternman

I'll certainly try that but the fact that the trans clicks a solenoid when I touch a batt cable to the post would indicate some type of electrical drain at the transmission.- patternman

E4OD draining battery
I have a 90 F250 4wd with E4OD trans. The batteries keep draining. I have to pull cables and hook back up in the am. I noticed that when I tap the cable to the batt post there is a click in the trans. What about the TECA (transmission electronic control assembly) where is it & whats it look...- patternman

7.3 Turbo piston rings?
Rings are different. The top and intermediate rings on a 7.3L IDI are a keystone design. Top ring is 15 degree second ring is 6 degree oil control ring is rectangular.- patternman

The pedestal grommet is a replacement for the CDR grommet and a block off will not work as the pedestal returns the turbo oil to the valley pan. The pdf file I referred to above specifically states that the grommets are not the same and repeats a couple of times not to use the CDR grommet for...- patternman

I found a pedestal grommet from http://www.1stfordparts.com/ I had a part number from a local dealer for looking it up. F3TZ6853A I haven't received the part yet so I cannot verify if it is the correct part. I have a Ford PDF on the 7.3 IDI Turbocharged Diesel The PDF is a very good source...- patternman
