Sca always used since I owned it. This was my last idi, so I already had all my oilburners knowledge lol Ran perfect, best one I ever had. Truck rotted out and trans was slipping. Got myself a suit and tie job, I'll never use this engine.. 49286 $1200- mr_smith

It's an 1987. The starter is bad from what I'm told and 2 of 3 bolts are out, so I'll start there. Clean and check the intake, fresh batteries, I'll run a tube from the lift pump to fresh diesel, change the fuel filter and spice it up with some diesel clean, crack an injector and see if she...- mr_smith

Family friend of mine called and asked if I would want the old 1 ton that I took a liking to at his house some years ago. I made a quick video. Trying to see if the worm gear is gone as previously mentioned. The quality is terrible, I can make a better one if necessary. I don't really know what I'm looking for but I don't see anything that would drive a gear..- mr_smith

I was wrong, the cable had separated from the piece that goes into the housing (where the o ring is) I got it out and the gear looks good If I put it on the cable and spin it, the odometer moves. In guessing that means my issue is something else. Not sure what to check now- mr_smith

Gotcha. Pardon my ignorance here, I have never had to deal with this issue before. I can't seem to find the gear on rock auto or oreilly, all that comes up is the cable, and it doesn't appear to have a gear on it. Will I have to take the extension housing off to fix this?- mr_smith

It spins ok.. I was gonna put it on a drill and see if the speedometer moves. Was a gear supposed to come out with it, or am I supposed to try to look in the hole?- mr_smith

I pulled it out, the square drive part looks fine.. How do I test the rest of the cable?? Someone above said they had to replace a ecm relay.. Could that be the problem?- mr_smith
