5th wheel towing

Alright so whats the problem with fords?

Catalytic converter and MPG's?
from all I've heard the cat is pretty hi flow.... the muffler is the bottle neck in the exhaust... A turbo back will give u the best flow, but will you be able to tell the difference ??? maybe.... Cat delete?
Some have removed the cat and seen very little difference in performance or mpg.... and given it is a $10,000 FEDERAL fine.... I give obuma enough taxes, so not worth it to me :) IMHO :) BUT, replacing the stock 100 lb muffler with something like the $60 or so Walker BTM is a plug and play...- JohnBoyToo

Cat -beat the guts out?
IMHO.... Just how much difference do you think the cat makes on flow, hp, 1/4 mile times, etc... I would guess it is negligible unless you are going for the 1000 hp mark.... :) (yeah, right ! u did say a 6.oh) I chose to leave the cat alone and spend the $10k saved on fines for a Walker BTM...- JohnBoyToo

Again, not 'everyone' says bad things :) I opted not to get the extended 200k warranty... no other fixes done to mine other than the sct and a Walker BTM makes it sound and run fine @ 103k....- JohnBoyToo

6.0 needs more power
Take this in the manner it is offered... trying to be helpful... 1st get rid of the Edge.... have heard of TOO many with tranny issues as a result of using them.... Get a sct programmed from someone like Innovative Diesel.. my ex has done 8.9 in the 1/8th, which is more than fast enough for...- JohnBoyToo

getting rid of pos6.0
Had an 03 6.0 Ex I loved and modded - liked it so much I wanted the ast of the breed and we traded it on our 05 Ex.... It has had the sct on it since birth almost - maybe 5k stock... I do the maintenance regularly and have a 100k warranty... @ 99k now and considering pre-spending my auto...- JohnBoyToo

Dash Gauges
What year model engine do you have ? Have you considered taking it to another dealer for a second opinion.. :) Is it possible it is a wiring harness chafing somewhere ? good luck ....- JohnBoyToo

6.0 MPG
Can't help you with a dually :) but realistically, it depends ! two different peope driving the same vehicle can get drastically different mpg :) my wife is a hot rodder ! wears rear tires out ! driving style REALLY affects mpg - tortoise and the hare, ya know :) Winter mpg is lower than...- JohnBoyToo

was it after being parked overnite after a cold snap ? My 03 ex did that too, iirc, there was a recall.... might check with your dealer.... being in Texas, it didn't bother me too much, only got cold enough once or twice to see it...- JohnBoyToo

straight piping
The Walker BTM works well for me.... < $60, Lifetime warranty , good rumble on my 6.0, EGT's 200 degrees cooler... IN my case, straight piping was WAY too loud inside my 6.0 Excursion on long trips - the drone made us crazy within 45 minutes :)- JohnBoyToo

Experiences with the 6.0 PSD?
Have had two 6.0 Ex's and never had an egr issues (that I know of :) ) Since neither have left me on the side of the road, I guess I wouldn't know :) And both my 03 and 05 Ex's have been tuned all their lives and no issues... My advice would be to research it just like you would ANY used...- JohnBoyToo
