So start off at -20 with engine off ... start engine and adjust the IP to passenger side until meter is 2 to 3 degrees positive.... thats equates to 8.5 to 9 degrees btdc.... also for every 1/8 inch from static timing equals about 4 degrees... in my opinion... hope this helps
I will say this... I took the rig out for a long trip this passed weekend and it did GREAT... but with trans temp. Egts. Boost on the A puller and oil pressure amp gauge water temp all in the dash a though went through my mind that the plane was easier to fly than watchn all these gauges...
Thanks all for the input.... my thought is most of u seam to like this gauge u have recommended and I have the glow shift gauges and some have said they r not worthy so insted of upsetting my sick lookn gauge pack I would add this one and that way I could have a reference.... in the airplane I...
Thank u... see any reason not to have 2 egts?... see any reason to not mount the probes beside each other or by having 2 units should I install the new probe in maybe the drivers side manifold??
Ok everyone.... don't kill me on this one .. in one of our discussions u guys were talking about a egt gauge that read out in digital and it was a square unit someone mounted beside the wait to start lamp... and even sent me a link to get one and I've lost the link... does anyone remember or...
Thats awesome... well I felt the same way when I set mine up with the rotunda and when I hooked up the pulse meter it was dead nuts on 8.5 btdc. U start with a neg 20 but end up with a positive 2.5... great job... we both did good... lol
I just did mine last week and I set the rotunda meter at -20 and at 2000 rpms it was a positive 2.5.... then I hooked up a new timing lite set up with a pulse meter and she was timed perfectly at 8.5 btdc....
U have to set your meter at -21 degrees before u start the motor then at 2000 rpm u set the ip timing to 2.5 positive degrees.... that will equate to 8.5 degrees btdc
I just install a new pump and timed it using the rotunda luminous method.... timing should be at 2.5 this way.... first u will static time the pump lines match... for every 1/8 in to pass side is equivalent to 4 degrees... mine is not quite 1/4 in passenger side.... then I hooked up a farral...
