I have consistently had issues with the wires in my wiring harness. Is there a good place to get a new one or at least the connector heads so I can build my own.
sorry for the double message. I dont exactly understand what the function of these regulators would be. Do they just keep the engine from running when some value like oil pressure is too low or high? does it have the ability to turn the engine off?
Thats what I was thinking when I brought it in I mentioned it could be a fusible link as well. I will have to double check with them that they tested the wiring.
I have a 6.9 IDI with an ambulance body. In the fall It died unexpectedly in the driveway. I thought it was a issue with the Fuel shutoff solenoid so I replaced it. When I tried starting it the next time my glow plug controller started smoking so I replaced it. When I tried to start it the next...
My Truck died recently at idle. after some looking it seemed like my fuel shutoff solenoid was the problem. After I replaced the fss and tried to start it the glow plug controller began to smoke from the coil. I replaced it with a new glow plug controller. The amps the new unit pulled were...
I found a wiring diagram and I may have hooked up the wire for the fuel shutoff solenoid and the cold advance solenoid into the each other the wrong direction. I was thinking about just disconnecting both of them and turning the ignition on see if I still get the glow plugs to kick then try...
Thank you soo much this is great info. Im gonna read through it now. What could have caused that to smoke when I was tested the solenoid. This is my first vehicle ive ever worked on so im real hard into the learning curve here.
I replaced my fuel shutoff solenoid today. I replaced the rubber washers that go around the screw to protect it from contacting the housing. I also replaced the washers on the outside with a new set of neoprene washers. As a precheck i connected the back wire on permanently. I then turned on the...
Im gonna grab a gauge tomorrow see what I'm currently getting while I wait for a proper fuel pump. Do you see any immediate danger in running the much less powerful pump until the new one gets in. I guess I dont really understand the dangers of too low fuel pressure.
This is great information. I am thinking the Carter 4070 is for me as well. I will keep the old one in a bay for emergencies. Also gonna scoop a schrader pressure gauge see what both pumps run. should the fuel pump be installed before or after the water fuel seperator. Mines been disconnected...
When i bought my ambulance the mechanical fuel pump had been cut off and a fuel pump shoddily put in. Id like to clean up the mess they left. What is the fuel flow rate needed for these IDI engines. Here is the current fuel pump that im trying to figure out if I need to replace.
Good to know. I was able to get the app to work with internal sensors on the test phone. Thankfully that sensor is easier to read. Also my speedo is about 5 mph slow.
I am trying to keep both the original gauges and the app. I have tons of space where ambulance components were originally installed. My plan is to install two phones with different screens both displaying sensor data. "two is one and one is none"
Ive also been curious if measuring some sensors will cause the gauges on the cluster from having the right value. for things like the fuel tank that measures resistance I was thinking of putting the sensor after the gauge. The value would be lower than before the gauge but I think I can deal...
