    That's what I thought but it makes no difference in sound at all...could that mean the pump has a problem?

    Can't see how that is...if it advances the timing it would do it at any rpm I would think but maybe I'm missing something

    Question about the cold start advance switch on the injection pump of my 93 7.3 NA....with it disconnected and the engine started, if I touch a hot wire to the switch it makes no difference at all in the rpms or running condition...shouldn't it?

    I've read a bunch on this topic but still not sure I understand....I have 12V to the GP relay that drops to about 10v on both relay terminals when the key is turned on....I get a little under 10V at the glow plugs...glow plugs are new Motorcraft and GP relay is new...the wait to start light...

    So in the video I posted I show where when the truck started without the high idle engaged it cleared up and ran smooth...when I engaged the high idle it started smoking...could that indicate timing being to low still?

    Ok, looking at the engine from the front the engine turns clockwise so I'm assuming if the line is showing up past the TDC mark it needs the timing advanced...btw, at idle the lines match up...

    I am doing that but just thought I get a heads up ...kinda of a pain to keep loosing and tighting up the pump nuts

    I had it set at 8 degrees...before I start moving the pump would just like to know if the pully mark being above the TDC mark is advance or retard...then I can move the pump accordingly
