That's unbelievable-you'd think just the opposite would occur. You'd think the smoke spewing trucks would get reamed for registration because theyr pollute the air more than newer rigs. 'member when AZ was paying people to convert their trucks to run on NG so they'd reduce pollution? In...

While I agree with you that there should be a picture of the engine, I think it's because a picture of the engine bay tells you relatively little about the internal condition of the engine. A picture of the seats does explain a lot about the condition of a seat.

I've been reading your posts for years about not wanting to fork over the bucks for a new truck and, well, here ya go, take the dump off, sell it for $4,000 and get yourself a hauler body. Cat diesel LoPro with A/C and all the towing capacity you'll ever need. Mechanically sound and way under...

I would love a Ranger 4x4 or F-150 4x4 with a small & economical, but tough diesel for running errands.

If your truck is under CDL, then 180-210 HP should be enough for a 26,000 GVWR or less truck. You have to look at the DT466 this way: It's probably one of the toughest diesels ever built, but it's not the cheapest to modify for streetable big power. If it's in a pulling tractor, you have...

well, 210 is better than 180, but 210 ain't much once it's loaded, you won't notice much difference. Diesel trucks of the 80's & 90's were simpler & more reliable, but the new ones have gobs more power. Is upgrading to a newer used truck with more balls out of the question?

You could also ask around your 'hood & see what truck/diesel shops have a good reputation.

Your dealer or mechanic should be able to do a pump turbo & injectors in a 8-9Hr day.

How well does the LTL Tri-axle pull with the 425 CAT when loaded-say 20 ton + ?

The HP is stamped on the label on the top of the engine. Can't miss it. Rough costs for IH reman parts: Pump-$1,100 Turbo-$ 700 Injectors $37/each You can believe a good IH dealer has been asked "how can I turn up my DT466?" a gazillion times. If reliability is a must, do it the...

You can get them used, but then you're just installing someone else's crap on a good truck. If you need to keep the cost down, buy IH reNEWed parts, they're rebuilt to factory specs. Take it to a big IH dealer, they can handle it no problem. Still haven't told us what HP your DT is right now.

Man, your boss has one sweet set of Fords. I hear them get criticized so much, but i think they were a nice truck with great visibility & nice turning radius. My friend has an L-8000 S/A with an 8.3L Cummins. I can't believe how easy it is to manuever. Motor is a little weak at 215HP, though...
