Alright y'all. I found an 07 F250,extended cab, 4wd, with a 6.0L. Straight looking truck in good condition. Supposedly everything works on it... except the engine. I'm sure we're all aware of the general problems with the 6.0L, but they're only asking $2500. My question is would you touch it or...- direwulf23

No, I wasn't at all certain where it would go at that point or if it would be accessible. I couldn't seem to find a great diagram of the engine, but it didn't look like it would make it all the way to the oil pan. Pulling freeze plugs is a possible method of finding it? Boneheaded mistake. How bad is it?
So, I was changing the fuel mechanical lift pump on my '95 F250 FWD. I had just got it out and cleaning up the valley and, although I literally said I should put a rag over the hole the pump sits in I didn't, and I dropped a 1/4" 5/16th socket in the hole. That was my problem this last time. I had considered it when I had everything out the first time but I didn't plug it. Certainly it would never be an issue if you maintain your filter. Of course, I had replaced every soft part and line associated with the pump and fuel bowl that first time...- direwulf23

You're definitely best off replacing every soft part in your fuel bowl and all of the fuel lines between the pump and fuel bowl. Diesel O Rings is definitely the source as well. You'll have to find the fuel pump banjo bolt crush washers separately, though. I got might from O'Rielly I think...- direwulf23
