Earlier you mentioned the fan clutch being bad. That, of course, could cause overheating. Does the fan roar like a tornado when the gauge shows hot? If not, it's not working.- Diesilee

New injectors and pump. Exhaust smoking.
Just read the last page in this. When the rental timing units were first going around I timed my three idi's @ about 10 degrees advance w/one @ 10.5. That was 5-8 yrs. ago, no problems. I do, however, have egt gauges and don't do peddle to the metal towing. All three are tidi and a joy to drive.- Diesilee

Yup, Take some leafs out (easy!), get 6 or 8ply tires instead of 10, retard the timing 4 to 6 degrees (quieter). There. New, wife friendly, truck!- Diesilee
