7.3 IDI Turbo rods If the rods are getting scarce, the Turbo pistons and pins won't do you much good since they have a larger pin and the non-turbo rods won't work.- DieselDon

Up to a point, advancing the timing may increase mileage depending where you are starting from. In a stock 6.9, timing should be around 8 degree BTDC using line pressure timing: .5 degree ATDC using luminosity timing. On a 7.3 IDI, best timing is between 8 & 10 degrees BTDC. There is a small amount of fuel in almost every oil sample. If my memory doesn't fail me, it is acceptable to have 3 to 5% fuel dilution. 6.9 GP amp draw
Ford indicated that the normal GP drew was about 16 amps cold ( 1 ohm or less ). As they heat up, the resistance increases, so the amperage drops to around 7 to 8 amps per GP or around 70 to 75 amps for the total GP system. There is in the 7.3 IDI turbo. They originally came with different pistons, rings, rods and stronger piston pins.
