Does the engine sound loud? 1986 F250 with about 130K - Is timing necessary?

I really don’t want more work. I also don't want to be stranded with my family somewhere far away. Hopefully y'all tell me the engine sounds just fine. Diesels are louder than an old _____. Finally got it to start on a dime and run smooth. I should have listened and changed the 30 year old...

Looking for help in Fresno Ca

I take my 1986 6.9 to Larry's Automotive in Van Nuys. They have an good old school mechanic who understands this truck. I understand that's a long drive at 45 mph, but that's what I would do. It sounds like the IP might need to be adjusted but I am a complete novice. Did you install a new...

Convert 1986 F250 Stock bed to wood Flatbed?

Should I Convert 1986 F250 Stock bed to wood Flatbed? Is this a good idea? I wanted to use wood. Has anyone done this? Can the load of a 93 Lance Cabover camper (see pictures for truck and camper) still be supported by wood as opposed to an expensive aluminum flatbed? Is this just another one of...

    6.9 Stalls after start occasionally

Thank you kindly for the tips. The compression is good since it started and ran well in cold weather without working glow plugs

    6.9 Stalls after start occasionally

Guages don't work so well but I've driven 135 miles after filling both tanks. I would say my front tank has 5 gallons in it and the rear is likely at least half full

    6.9 Stalls after start occasionally

I have an 86 6.9 (with about 130,000 miles) that had a severe starting problem when I bought it last summer and the problem got much worse as the weather got colder. Here's what I did: Replaced all return lines using a nice kit...the lines were dry but cracked so now they are good...did...

Wire on hard fuel line from lift pump to filter

I have an 86 f250 with a cabover camper that my wife, kids and I use as a house at the beach on weekends. I am just trying to get us rollin' again instead of cranking the stupid engine like a clown every time it sits for a little while due to air intrusion. I am following the article...
