Truck cranks, won't start, 1 Terminal of GPR is hot

My battery is fully charged so when I turn the key it turns over quickly, but unlike the past few months, it won't start. As you all know there are two large terminals on the GPR. In my attached picture the lower one shows 12.3 V and the upper one shows 11.3 with the key on. But then I...

97 F350 Clutch Slave Cylinder Push Rod Clip

When I last purchased a clutch master/slave cylinder the slave push rod had a plastic clip on it that would hold the push rod back in the cylinder. I don't know of a way to mount the slave cylinder on the side of the transmission without that clip. A picture is attached. I needed to remove my...

Throttle Position Sensor goes bad every 6 months or sooner

The Throttle Position Sensor (some call it the Pedal Position Sensor) attaches to the fuel pedal assembly. When the pedal is depressed the interior of the TPS/PPS turns which in turn signals for more fuel to the engine. Every 6 months for 8 years I have had to replace the PPS because it does...

    How to use Advanced Search

It may be on this site somewhere, but I can't find a How To for Advanced Search. That would be very helpful. It seems I would be able to search only the forum or forums I chose, and I would like to search for posts that contained these words: 1997, F350, rotor, but I can't see how to do that...

How much voltage drop do/should the glow plugs cause?

A second or two after I turn the key on on my 97 F350 the voltage drops from 12.8 to 9.8. That is right when the glow plugs should be fired for roughly 45 seconds. Is my voltage drop acceptable or should I be looking for another problem? Thanks, BigRedWeather

12.8V Key On in 2 seconds drops to 9.8

Man! Do I feel stupid. That has to be it! Thanks.

12.8V Key On in 2 seconds drops to 9.8

I have 12.8 volts at my battery before I turn the key on. 2 seconds after I turn the key on, I hear a click somewhere on the truck and the voltage drops to 9.8. I don't know how long it stays at 9.8 but I do need to determine that. I also need to see if my batteries are good (they should be I...

Can't find (to buy) a Ford High Mount Lamp for 97 F350

I have looked at Rock Auto, Ebay and Google for the Rear High Mount Lamp. This lamp is on the outside of the cab, centered above the bed. When a door opens 2 white lights on either side light up and when the brakes are hit, the center red light comes on. I was hoping someone here knew of a...

    Climbing steep hill, engine dies

Yesterday a very good PSD mechanic told me that Ford's spec on that tin nut is that it should be tightened finger tight, and then tightened 3/4 of a turn more with a wrench. I have put it on my calendar to check the nut every six months. BigRedWeather PS If it gives me more trouble I may...

    Climbing steep hill, engine dies

Thanks OldBull, the IPR was the problem. I am going to describe this so users of all knowledge levels can benefit from it. The IPR threads into the HPOP and has a shaft that aims back at the tailgate. Three parts go on the shaft: 1) the collar that the harness connects to 2) a spacer and 3)...

    Climbing steep hill, engine dies

The oil is up to the full mark, both tanks are full, no blown fuses. I haven't checked the UVCH. If that were bad, it should cause problems on level or steep ground. Mine does great on all ground, except steep ground. Right now it is on level ground and no does want to start. I'll check...

    Climbing steep hill, engine dies

It restarted after I rolled it back, sitting across the hill, and after letting it sit for a day. I just tried this again, and it wouldn't start.

    Climbing steep hill, engine dies

For years my truck would pull a steep hill (steep = a hill that require 4X4) with no engine issues. In the past month I have been climbing a steep hill two times, and after about 30 seconds of doing so the engine just quit. It acted like it was getting no fuel, but the bowl the filter is in...

Rear brakes lock up real easy

I overlooked the master cylinder part. I replaced that 3-4 years ago. Would consider replacing it again.

Rear brakes lock up real easy

One mechanic said the first thing he does with my situation is to replace the front rubber lines. I did that, but to no avail. Well, its nice to know that I don't own the only odd ball. Obviously I have bled the front brakes, but I will try again to blead them really well. I'll see...
