After all this time. The mechanic finally got it into the shop (hes been extremely busy) and within an hour had it solved. The PCM.. ya know, the one I had "rebuilt" .. so now I've got to get ahold of the company that rebuilt it and see what hes going to do to make this right. The mechanic...- 90f250

I know it doesnt make any sense. And it doesnt matter if I put the original gem back in either. Only thing with that is 4x4 doesnt work again and no start.. I've just ran out of brain capacity for this thing. I've done so much research, I've listened and tried so many ideas from everyone here...- 90f250

I will let everyone know the outcome when I get it to a shop and they find the problem. This is the VERY FIRST time and hopefully the only time that I've taken a vehicle to a shop because I cant do it myself or figure the problem out myself.. I'm not happy- 90f250

Whatever the problem is, is before the engine sensors. I disconnected the 42 pin and still the same thing happens.- 90f250

I have tried the idm, have not tried disconnecting the 42 pin and checking though. I will try tomorrow and see what happens- 90f250

Ok after fiddling around with this thing again.. I've got to have a short. I have power and ground BOTH at the ipr yellow/red wire, power and ground BOTH at a few others as well and I'm pretty sure it was one of my pcm key on power wires too.. my problem is I still cannot find where anything is...- 90f250

Yes they will all 3 connect to pretty much anything with an obd 2 port. I do have power at cig lighter and at the obd port. But no scan tool will actually link to the pcm. I can run the tests through the gem by bypassing the pcm, i.e. the injector buzz test and the other multi function tests but...- 90f250
