I haven't tried this myself, but I've heard that a parallel-flow condenser can make a world of difference.

When I add my intercooler, I'm planning to get the largest universal parallel-flow condenser I can physically fit in my truck and mount it so that it is in front of the intercooler. This is how most factory intercooled pickups do it, so I think it'll help considerably with a/c performance with your setup. Do keep in mind that you'll have to make custom hoses for this.

Take a look here for some universal parallel-flow condensers.

Hopefully RLDSL will see this thread and chime in; he's a wizard when it comes to a/c systems ;Sweet certainly, when all's said and done with my truck, I want my a/c as ice-cold as possible...I am a penguin and I have very little tolerance for heat...

Thanks i had no idea where to even begin to look i hooked up my big fan on the front of the intercooler as a pusher seems to help but its only 79 out not 103 like yesterday i was trying to think of all kinds of crazy ideas like running coils in the fuel tanks to cool the ac and as a bonus warm the fuel lol idk crazy .... but these condensors look like the best option so far

Call Jon at www.nostalgicairparts.com He did a bit of research a while back for me and matched up a real nice condenser that fits these things very nicely and will give you the best duct temps possible. He knows that more of you guys call about it so he keeps the number handy Its an odd looking bird, but works great. Use with a variable orifice valve and a pusher fan rigged to come on alone with the compressor. also get some douple foil backed foam insulation and wrap your ac evaporator box and fan area and cover the whole works to seal it from engine heat

Thanks i think what happend is i overheated and blew pressure because when i checked it is was low (30) once charged back up i like the duct temps. I just dont want to over heat it again.

Ill run a few days with the pusher and see what happens.

Also my ventor door for max ac is not getting vacuum the rest of the truck including all other hvac functions get vac just not that line ive pulled off all tape and loom from it and its all good it was busted and brittle right next to the flapper but i fixed that just no vac to it so i have the door zip tied at the moment i took the controls out everything seemed intact i noticed two wires half melted together but i know that wont effect vac

Another simple item, add a shut off valve to the heater core. That itself made a big difference in mine.

You guys that have installed the explorer/ranger heater shut off valve - have you had any issues with the evaporator actually getting iced up?

If your evaporator is icing, you have either a charge issure or your switch on your accumulator that shuts off the compressor is adjusted incorrectly, it should kick out before it lets the pressure get that low to where it would allow the temp to get that low to allow icing. Set the thing with a box fan in front of your condenser blowing across it with the ac on high windows shut after 10 minutes with the rpms around 1200 duct temp should not go below 33 deg, yea its neat to have bragging rights, but if you do you can end up with evaporator icing and that leads to trouble, dont go below 33 deg, it will keep you cold and comfy, if you go lower you WILL ice in high humidity and then you will wonder what the funky stink is coming out of your duct along with very low air flow , do that for long and you will be replacing other parts.

Thanks for your reply, RLDSL. I don't have to worry about bragging rights - the lowest I have ever seen my duct temp is about 45°, and that was when ambient temp was about 75°. On a 90° day, the lowest my duct temp will get is about 60°. Cool, but not cool enough. That is why I was asking about the heater core shut off mod and if it is worthwhile - Icing was my concern, but I don't think the evap temp will get that low anyway with my curent setup.

Hey what is an A/c Specific forum? I've got some off-topic vehicles to touch up the air on. Oh and I'm always interested in learning more.

You get enough air volume out of your fummins? I was thinking a lot of guys recommended going with crown vic blower motors. I always thought my crewcab lacked a/c volume temps were great, but the a/c couldn't keep up. I'm planning a new blower motor and a/c evaporator when I put it back together. I was conerned the evaporator was plugged with dirt.

Good luck as we all know lack luster a/c is miserable.

Crew cabs suck on ac, they left the system same as a single cab. I ended up taking a rear air evaporator out of a conversion van and putting rear air in the back seat area. Not for the novice, granted, but that sucker blows icicles in there

Yeah I read your post with great interest when you did the rear air. I'm trying to go overboard on insulation and sound deadening trying to make my crewcab as comfortable as possible.

Hey ya the fummins is running like a beast just double wrapped the manifold with dei header wrap and got the air filter moved away from the manifold i did the filter about a month ago it dropped egts 200 degrees and more whistle well i wrapped the manifold got some heat back but got more boost on the low end but the under hood temps are amazing i can run it up to 1400 egt pull over pop the hood by this time the pyro reads 400 and hold my hand on the header wrap for about 6 to 8 seconds awesome stuff...

Also i put the fan infront of the ic and that seemed to help the ac out im using a ac compressor new off the shelf from a bigrig shop cause the one off the cummins was jacked to say the least so this truck is ruinng custom lines big rig sanden. And the rest 95 ford ac system so i really dont know the right amount to put in im running over 45 on the low side
