Hi Gang! I'm looking for a different topper for Raylan, my '94. Right now, he's wearing the optional dealer installed fiberglass cap. It's pretty, paint matched, looks sharp! However, it's got small sliding windows which don't allow me to run a bed mounted aux fuel tank or access the bed from the side of the truck. On Diego, my '90, I have a 2012 aluminum ARE Super Duty commercial cap. It's not an exact fit on the bed, and the SD cap is tapered to match the SD bed, but it close enough that it doesn't cause any problems and it like the truck is white so overall it doesn't look too bad and it's functional for my needs plus iirc, I picked it up for $200. Now my question is what cap to get for the '94? Cosmetically, it's much nicer than old Diego the mule and we plan to keep it "forever". I'd like to get a cap that fit properly and had side access to the bed. Obviously, I'd like to avoid buying new - the commercial aluminum caps cost a bunch of $$$$ that I don't have. I realize that I am not going to find a color matched 25 year old cap in good condition, so I'm not opposed to having to paint the cap. If some of you guys who've been around these trucks for a long time had any insight as to what might be out there, I be mighty appreciative!

I'll check next time I'm down that way if you're interested. There's a contractor cap off an obs long bed for sale a few miles south of me. The kind with the doors that replace the tailgate.

I have a tall (LEER) cap for mine. Often you can find caps for very reasonable prices at car lots. Seems they never sell trucks with caps, consequently they remove prior to placing on lot for sale
You must be registered for see images attach
??? (least in this area).

Thanks, please do. I'm assuming that it has side doors as well. If it's not trouble, maybe get a few pictures?

That's a cool color combination on that truck! Don't see many with those colors.

I did a cheat to run a bed mount fuel tank and a cap. Made up a tube that runs from the fuel tank to the side of the cap, Used a boat fuel cap that mounts almost flush on the side of the cap, hole saw made an access port through the cap to mount the fuel cap, mounted it about 6 inches above the top of the fill port on the bed tank so it got plenty of drop.
Fabricated a hose fitting to adapt to the bed tank, used fuel rated hose to go from outside cap to bed tank.
It works. Use care when filling so you don't over fill the bed tank.

When I want to take the cap off the bed, it only takes a couple minutes to remove the fill hose and fitting from the bed tank and replace the fitting with a cap on the tank...

Now, one stop pumps every tank with zero fuss. All the tanks load from drivers side.
