Completed the Swap!
Had a few issues during the swap, Had to cut a good piece of the front of the trans tunnel.

All is left is to lengthen, add yoke, and new U Joints for the drive shaft.
After that I need to install hydro master and slave and wire up the starter.

Engine Plate, fly wheel, starter, clutch!

And to top it off, added some new carpet to cover the tunnel and new shifter boot. (will order LMC Carpet set eventually.

Well Started the truck for the first time 2 weeks ago. Took it for its maiden voyage, found that 3rd gear doesn't stay in and 4th doesn't work at all, After pulling the trans back out, I opened the top casing to see what was going on, Found that the 4th gear syncro is missing all the teeth. So handed it over to have it rebuilt. Hopefully will be back soon!

Man its looking good you should keep that carpet. I'm literally about to do the exact same thing except I believe the old transmission was a 47re. Anything u recommend for me? The donor nv4500 is out of a 96 2500, thats all I have at the moment. Your old transmission mount wouldn't work? I figured you might need new brackets but I didn't know you need a whole new mount. 1st Gen flywheel and starter won't work? I'm going to need to lengthen the drive shaft? Looks like I need to read up a little more. Is their a sticky of some sort?

The mount on the NV4500 hangs lower than any of the 2wd 727/a518/Getrag transmissions. A 1stgen 4wd crossmember might be closer to working.

1stgen flywheel should work... with a stock 13" 1stgen clutch. This flywheel has an outer lip on it. The stock 2ndgen 12" clutch and (aftermarket clutches) use flywheels without the lip. Most jobber clutch & flywheel kits for the 1stgen are 12" 2ndgen stuff.

1stgen and 2ndgen starters have a different bolt pattern and clocking.

All right i just bought an adapter plate with the 2nd gen starter and the clutch pedal assembly with the master cylinder bracket. . I have a welder so worse case i can fab a tranny mount. So if i got a clutch for the getrag it would work with the nv4500? Also I found a prefilled master slave setup. will the slave cylinder for the getrag work for the nv4500? Or should it be the other way around 2nd gen hydraulic setup so it has the correct slave for the tranny?

Sorry for a late reply, Havent check the forum in a few days. The start of the thread I listed all the parts I got with most of the part numbers.

Yes you will have to lengthin the driveshaft. But you may not know the length till you have it in the truck. Mine was about 4" I think it was.

The Nv45 trans mount is much lower and in the incorrect spot.i suggest fabbing up something similar to what I built But make the distance between the 2 long bars a little wider. I ended up cutting the mount and making it differnt. Ill find pics later. ( I sold the truck a couple months ago).

I highly suggest the second gen starter and nv4500 to 12V housing. Made life 100 times easier. Than I used a 2nd gen clutch and master, Had to lengthin the rod to reach the pedal but that was easy.

Ill find some other photos later when I have some free time and post them up in here.
