Old Mister Bill has me convinced I can fix my e4OD and I really believe I can do it if it's not too far gone already. But I found a good deal on a 5 speed and may buy it just in case.

What I found is a ZF 5 trans and whole package (EVERY PART that goes with it) from a 94 460 gas truck. Will it fit our IDIs?
thanks!
Nick

No the diesel and gassers have differant bell housings, the top bolts will line up but all the rest are about 1/2" off, plus I think the dowell pins will not line up also.

I have a pic that shows that you can drill the diesel to fit 460. I did it on mine first time around.should be able to go the other way also, same casting just different holes. It is posted on here somewhere.

No there are at least three models that I am aware of.
1 fits 300 IL six and 302/351 Windsors
1 Fits 460 or even a 429 or I suspect a 351/400M or clevland as well
1 fits 6.9/7.3 IH diesel

Riot your close on that
1 fits the small blocks (300 six 221/260/289/302/351 and 351 cleveland)
1 fits the 385 series (370/429/460) and the Modified (351m/400m)
1 fits the 6.9/7.3 diesels

Just a note of correction here.

The 351 Cleveland uses the same bell housing as a 351M/400 and the 385 series big block which is 429/460.
The 351/400M "M" being a Modified cleveland blocks are the same bell housing patterns.

As for a 385 series 370 CI engine I cannot personally say I know of it that does not mean it does not exist though.

Ford's six cyl engines and the 302/351 Windsor are the same bell housing as each other as previously stated.
