I just bought an old military Chevy with a 6.2. I also just finished reading an article in Diesel World about 6.5 upgrades. Will those upgrades work on a 6.2? If so, will they be a direct bolt on?
well....
you can't go wrong with doing the timing chain delete by going geardrive. I did it in my latest project 6.5 and the throttle response is wicked
no more sluggish rpm ramp-up.
second is the turbo cal injection pump and marine spec injectors.
there are those who would advocate the main stud girdle kit, I haven't put together a motor that made the kind of power that requires the kit.
outside of that, I wouldn't suggest anything else in the meantime until you determine the rear end ratio and what you have to work with. chances are the frame on the tugger has been seriously shortened and the rear gear ratio is going to require replacement before you can hit the road.
