My 88 f250 2wd had it, my dad's 89 f250 4x4 had it, but an 87 f250 4x4 with the 6.9 we parted out did not.

I always just read the data tag on the pumpkin to make sure.

My 91 has it. I didn’t think it was an option for the F Super Duty trucks, but mine is not domestic market…

I do have the window sticker, I don’t remember if it says anything about the axle though. Now I’m curious, I’ll have to go check…

I don’t remember what the tag says, but I had the cover off changing the diff fluid and resealing it, and noticed it then. It’s a gear style limited slip, kinda like a TrueTrac sort of thing. Maybe it’s aftermarket ‍ :dunno

Diff fluid change interval is 10,000 km, 6000 miles, every other engine oil change… I wonder why so often… it takes 75-140 Full Synthetic with Friction Modifier… not cheap… and it holds lots of it…

It’s a bit expensive to work on and to operate

Huh I didn't know the service interval was so short... I'm way overdue :idiot:

Most are worn out by now. They work a little bit but not like they did when they were new. Get the axle code off the door jamb and we can determine from that if it came from the factory with a limited slip and also find out the ratio.

Ok. I thought the bull nose I had wasn’t and it was straight 80/90. Is the diff tagging related, can you tell from looking at it?

I have an 87 that's open and an 89 limited slip. (both idi diesel Sterling axles and both are 4.10). I can take a pic of the 89 tag if that will help. Currently installing it in a highboy so it's easy access right now.

I don’t remember the axle code… but it has 5.13s and the limited slip works well
