What year was the D60 front reintroduced to the F350? ZF5?

I remember the D60 front was used in the late 70's, then not for a while, and then again in the 80's up, when did it come back? I'm thinking of a crew cab 4x4 project truck instead of an extended cab, and when did the ZF5 start? I had an '87 460 truck with one, but all the '87 IDIs are advertised as 4 speeds!

I think the D60 made it's return in mid 85 and only on F-350's. I know the ZF was behind an IDI in 88.

According to Wikipedia, it says that the 1987 models saw the return on the D60 as a high pinion, king pin style, and in 1992 it changed to a ball joint style.

Previous to this, the F350's from 1980 - 1986 had the Dana 50 TTB setup.

78-79 D60 Kingpin HP In F350 and in some "snow fighter" F250's.
85.5-91 D60 Kingpin HP with diff offset closer to the knuckle compared to the earlier 78-79 axle. Only available in F350 models.
92-97 D60 Ball Joint HP with diff offset closer to the knuckle. Again F350 only.
01-03 Saw the return of the D60 (99-00 were D50's that look nearly identical on the outside) with a HP, ball joints and unit bearings.
Not sure past 03 I know the 60 remained with the introduction of the front coil springs and there is a Super 60 in some of the newest trucks.

Not positive on the ZF but I have seen a few in the 87 trucks behind the 6.9 as an option.

X2.

The ZF5 was first seen on '87's.

Yes. Factory. I'm probably one of the few people around who remember them coming out when they were new in 85'. Having just ordered the Moose Truck 2 years prior, I got axle envy the first time I saw one. -Drool

I know they where in the 85's I cut one out of an 85 myself for my 90 that I sold. That axle is one of the toughest 60's ever and the easieist swap since it bolts rite in.
