Not necessarily. The 83-87 have the C-6 Automatic. The E4OD did not come along until 87ish..... The quickest way to tell if it is an E4OD is if the truck has an "O/D Off" button either on the dash (87-91 Bricknose) or on the end of the shifter (92-94 OBS)

Pipedream stated that his is a '93

I guess I missed that from an earlier post.......

pipedream73,

Please add the information about your truck in your signature. It is located in the UserCP, Edit Signature. With that info in the signature, it helps others answer your questions.

Maybe one Day i can convert the Green Machine to C6 ... I think cpdenton had done that conversion

Nope. Some jack leg had jimmied one into my truck when I bought it. It had no vrv on the IP, and went straight into 3rd as soon as you started moving. It worked long enough to get home and get yanked out. I jam gears now with a zf.

If its a C-6, the tach not working is an annoyance, but an E4OD it is a MAJOR ISSUE.

89 is the first year of the E4OD.

On mine the bouncing around issue was caused by the connections on the back of the instrument cluster. Removing, adding dielectric grease, and reattaching addressed the bouncing around. That said the Tach sensor was also bad, but anywho.
