i am looking at buy a truck that is having a little starting problem. it well turn over with the key but wont fire. if you roll start it ( pull it and dump the clutch) it well fire right up. could it be a starter seloniod. it turns over fast and have good batteries. any help would be great thanks Brian

just a thought, but check the glow plugs for power with wait to start light on, and check the gp's themselves for continuity. My guess is that its getting fuel and the piston speed pull starting it is higher than the starter can generate, thereby more heat available for the combustion event.

once its started and warmed up will it fire back up with the key?

its not the starter or solenoid if it turns over with the key.
