Hey guy's! I was removing the baffles from my intake near the turbo inlet, and my jaw dropped when I saw the turbine wheel blades! They all had equal amount of damage to them, looks like they scrapped the concrete floor. It's F.O.D. I'm sure! Does anyone have a part number or price for the holset? The truck is a 2004. And can you replace just the wheel on this thing?, I've seen websites selling the wheel portion. Thanx for your help!!

Yes, you can buy just the compressor wheel,
but you need to figure out why it's messed up.
Did something go through thre intake and damage the wheel?
Is there matching damage on the housing as well,
from where the wheel has been hitting?
Is there excessive play in the shaft?
Maybe time to upgrade to a different turbo.

I would be looking for the source of the damage... like said are there witness marks on the housing? did you happen to run the truck with no air cleaner or is the air cleaner housing leaking?

Just to try to clarify something,
The "damage" is where? Just the tips of the blades?
I'm guessing you mean the whole surface.
You wouldn't be able to see the edges unless
you had pulled the turbo apart or off.
A pic would be a lot of help if you can do that.

Sorrry for the late reply! When I took the intake tube off I noticed that the edges of primary blades were damaged. By primary I mean the first set of blades, there are smaller blades behind them. I do believe it was my mass air flow sensor screw because it is now missing. how it got there is I dont know? I've been letting dealer do oil changes because they gave me a bunch of free ones when I purchased truck. I also noticed several pieces of the plastic baffle in inlet tube busted off(at turbo inlet boot) so I removed it. The truck is a 2004 with 11,500 miles do you think warranty will be excepted? I do have after market exhaust from turbo back but have done nothing with engine. Will be putting back original intake box before I take to dealer. any thoughts?

I can see, and have seen motors inhale chunks of the plastic
intake on those trucks. Warranty is possible if you can show them
where some of the bits are missing from. As for the MAFS screw?
I don't think it would have quietly ingested that part.
Unless it did somehow manage to pass through the turbo,
it should be stuck somewhere in the hot side of the intercooler.
It's not very likely that it ate the screw. That would have made a
huge mess of the turbo. Like a "not driveable" kind of a mess.
The good part you have going for you, is the dealer has been
performing the service for you. I don't know that you need to
switch the airbox over. Haven't they already seen it last time
it was in for service?
