Ok so we have members renting timing meters so how about the freeze plug tool? I have a friend that's giving me a sweet deal on a low mileage 7.3 it's just got a plug leaking and need to replace it....

I caution you about this sweet engine. If one freeze plug is leaking the rest are not far from leaking. Replace them all and purchase ONLY THE FACTORY PLUGS. They come in a bag of 7. Your engine may have been rebuilt and some fool cut corners by installing after market fakes especially if they are brass. Use a wire brush and a good sealer on the new plugs. The tool is essential for proper install. Sadly we have no idea if they are installed correctly even with the correct tool. The factory plugs are stainless steel and are cut to bite into the cast iron block so that MUST be clean.

Wife is having surgery on Friday, so I might need to meet up with you Thursday.

Happy to let you use it!

Were you able to get your hands on the 7.3?

Curious how things are going.

Leaking freeze plugs mean an unmaintained cooling system. Do any other engines use this style of freeze plug and tool

Seeing they are stainlesz yes it would surely seem to indicate that....

If you need that tool back I can ship it tomorrow...

Nope! Not in a hurry! Just hoping it works well for you.

You have seen the tech article by RLDSL right?

I do expect pictures when you get it done.
