Strange Glow Plug Operation

Ok I can park my truck long enough that it cools and the gp controller should kick on and it doesnt. The light just flashes. I can crank the engine over for a couple seconds and it works fine. been doing this for about a week now and its consistent with the cranking. Ive tried just cycling the key and it doesnt matter. After it comes on everything works fine. Checked all conections and they were good. What does the sensor read that tells it to come on, water right? Any help would be appreciated.

Might have some burned out glow plugs.

Nope all glow plugs are good. I just replaced them about 2 months ago and all was well for that time until now. What gets me is the face that they wont work until I crank the engine over for a few seconds then cycle the key and it all goes to workin.
